b2b plugin was supposed to be used for ac-3 passthru
however, it is not perfect at the moment

3532 release will include a better solution for ac-3 passthru for audigy and audigy2-based boards
in general, it is recommended not to use the effects listed in the 'passthru' submenu...

b2b means 'bit to bit' (that is, the sound passes the DSP unaffected)

well, b2b is not for ac3 pass-through only... Also this code being inserted somewhere on the wave path increases dynamic range and decreases distortion of 48000Hz playback... That is, "bit to bit" means signal that reaches ADC/SPDIF is identical to the one you play, while 48000Hz playback without "b2b" is somewhat "15.5 bit"... - all this for Audigy and 48kHz playback only (all other cases are worse anyway due to "resampling")

anyway, the present 'b2b' plugin doesn't provide -real- bit-to-bit playback
there's a random error +/- 1 bit
