effects in the DSP or reaper?
I use Reaper shareware and when setting up the kx drivers I downloaded various plugins e.g. reverb etc. How do I get these into (to appear in) the kx DSP routing window?
Also it appears that it might be possible to apply these effects in Reaper rather than the DSP, but which way is better? |

No - kX DSP effects are very different to Reaper effects - Which reaper plugins are a special kind of VST plugin.
To 'install' kX plugins - well - there are various ways... maybe ask about one specifically. To 'use' kx plugins - you right click in the kX DSP screen/applet then select 'Add Effect/Plugin' and a list of installed plugins will pop up, select the one you want - which that you would then connect in the signal chain with in the kX DSP - depending on what plugin and what your trying to accomplish. Again - more specifics are need from you for more detail... |

Additionally...
Using kX DSP in reaper - ok - this is kinda tricky.. You can use a SEND in reaper (a dedicated ASIO out) that you would use in kX DSP by attaching an effect from the related FXBuss lines - and RETURN to reaper via a dedicated ASIO pins on epilog and is then an ASIO INPUT in reaper.. The whole INPUT and OUTPUT thing can get confusing becuase they can be sort of relative in terms - an ASIO output in kX DSP = and ASIO INPUT in reaper (or anyother DAW host) So... lets say - in reaper my MAIN output is ASIO 0/1 - which is sent into kX DSP via FXBuss 0/1 And I want to use a kX DSP based reverb as a SEND EFFECT in reaper. I rwould connect that kX DSP based reverb between FXBuss and Epilog. I would use ASIO 2/3 for both input and out put to avoid *some* confusion... So I connect FXBuss 2/3 to the input of the reverb, and connect the output of the reverb to ASIO 2/3 of epilog. From there - I dont know how to set up send effects in reaper exactly, I never used it. But there should be a way to use EXTERNAL effects in reaper, which is for the most part - the way to go about using kX DSP effects in any DAW host. kX DSP - as far as a DAW host is concerned is an EXTERNAL effect much like using a RACK UNIT - only - we would use kX DSP instead. I hope that makes sense... |
