why not write a resample effect plugin?

the worst feature of the live/audigy is their bad src,so why not write a resample plugin to resample the 44.1 audio stream before they were sent to emu10kx,i think it should improve the sound quality a lot

It has been discussed before, here are some of the reasons:
1) it can't use power of 10k1/10k2, so it would take CPU time (10kX chips can only operate at 48000)
2) it is integrated in players such as foobar2000 (http://foobar2000.hydrogenaudio.org/)
3) in ASIO, it would introduce latency

but it is just a plugin,for somebody whose cpu is strong,then he can use it,then the resample can take effect in every where,this could give us more space to choose sound player(in some reason,i did not like foobar2k),on the other hand,those whose cpu is poor,just leave this plugin bypass,and use foobar2k

i remember that yamaha 7x4 driver has this feature,if check hi-fi 44k on,the driver can use the cpu to do resample instead of the ymf7x4 chip,the quality was inproved a lot
