ok now so the problam is this:
how can i pick a slope to use in the cross (6/12/18/24OCT)
because right now, i see only the cutting. but i want to pick the slope - its very important in my set-up

Re: slope on KX cross

Slope is determined by the filter order.

i.e.
2nd Order Crossover is 12 dB/octave.
4th Order Crossover is 24 dB/octave.

2nd Order Crossover is 12 dB/octave.
4th Order Crossover is 24 dB/octave.
?

i use the lowpassEQ.
and the hipassEQ.
(and hi after low to get a band-pass)

Re: slope on KX cross

I am not sure what you are asking...

There are crossover plugins (2nd order and 4th order) bundled with kX and with the UFX plugin pack.

6/12/18/24 dB/octave refers to the slope of the transition band. This is determined by the filter order.

As for the EQ Lowpass, EQ Highpass, etc, they are 2nd order filters.

Re: slope on KX cross

yes yes now i see.

i find the
2nd Order Crossover is 12 dB/octave.
4th Order Crossover is 24 dB/octave.

so if i understand right the kx include
only 12db slope (2n)
and 24db slope (4th)

there is a way to get a 6/18/30 slopes ?

thank you so much !

Currently there are no such plugins (that I am aware of).

Re: slope on KX cross

I think you would get 24 dB/octave, but I do not think you really want to use crossovers like this as there are other effects that result (i.e. signal would be attenuated by 6 dB, there is possible summing issues and phasing issues, etc). You are better off just using a crossover designed with the slope that you need.

Re: slope on KX cross

russ,
if i use 2 2-order cross in a line
the first to cut the low and the second to cut the high,
the slops work individually right?

lets say i want to change the first one to 4-order cross
-> [4-order[50hz]]-> high -> [2-order[4000hz]] -> low ->

so i get 24db slope at the 50hz cut and 12db slope at the 4000hz cut right?

Re: slope on KX cross

I am really not an expert on this, but I think that's right (with the cutoff frequencies so far apart, you should not get the same interaction with the different bands).

Assuming you are trying to make a 3-Way crossover, your other option is to just use a Lowpass, Highpass, and Bandpass filter in parallel (2nd order filters, so 12 dB/ocatve (BTW: IIRC, the Phat EQ is 24 db/ocatve?)).
