microenhancer/ microbuttom (aphex- like enhancers)
tried to rebuild famous aphex enhancers "aural exiter" and "big buttom".
maybe it works like the original ![]() microbuttom v1.0 simulates an "aphex big bottom" (bass enhancer) with 12 db lowpass filter and antiparallel diode limiter. microexiter v1.0 simulates an "aphex aural exciter typ b" (treble enhancer) with 12 db highpass filter and antiparallel diode limiter/overdrive. http://freenet-homepage.de/stylish-s...ottom_v1.0.zip (the tread must sound "microexiter/ microbuttom (aphex- like enhancers)".. cannot be corrected) stylus Last edited by stylus02; Feb 24, 2009 at 01:46 PM. Re: microenhancer/ microbuttom (aphex- like enhancers)
Hi Stylus,
the sound is near to the original APHEX device. Respect! I think about upgrading the DAWs to get more GPRs

Re: microenhancer/ microbuttom (aphex- like enhancers)
Well I am not sure what the original aphex effects were like, but I was trying out the microbottom and it is pretty good (I have not played with the other one much yet).

Re: microenhancer/ microbuttom (aphex- like enhancers)
thanks for feedback guys. i never heard these "superweapons of mastering"
![]() i/o levels are adjustable now. the file "micromastering_plugs_v1.1.zip" can be downloaded on my website, including a stereo- enhancer and a kind of tube- limiter (no real compressor/limiter with control circuit). stylus |

Re: microenhancer/ microbuttom (aphex- like enhancers)
i think should hear v1.3 of microlimiter. after some tests i decided uploading the code. now it detects peak levels and switches between limiting and "do- nothing". the result is a compressor/limiter with nice tube harmonics (if it's driven not to much).
the maximal dynamic compression is ~ 26db. in reality 6- 9db are reached plus an output gain without determine distortion. the signal should be louder without "pumping". everything needs only 9 gpr's. mm.. i'm a bit proud of it. the usage is really, really simple. 1. decrease "out" 2. increase "in" until you think you hear warm distortion 3. now with "out" bring up the level to 0db http://freenet-homepage.de/stylish-s...imiter_v1.3.da tested on an old "90`s"- mastered dancefloor title "kim sanders - show me" also in use: microwidth, microbottom, microexiter. http://freenet-homepage.de/stylish-s...miter_v1.3.mp3 another example is one of my all time favourites "ldc - die schwarze zone" (1993) http://freenet-homepage.de/stylish-s...miter_v1.3.mp3 i'm not shure if i should open a new tread for microlimiter. what do think? Re: microenhancer/ microbuttom (aphex- like enhancers)
have made a early sketch of microlimiter. i fear i need help to do this in c++.
only 4 registers have to be controlled. (2 control, in/out) anyone interested in? i can deliver all graphics including animations http://freenet-homepage.de/stylish-s...1.3_sketch.jpg (similarities with a roland "space echo" are randomly )

Re: microenhancer/ microbuttom (aphex- like enhancers)
Hi! I would like to have something opposite to microwidth. Something to set to mono the low end. Like Monofilter: NuGen Audio Monofilter Transparent Bass Enhancer Plugin VST & AU
I'm using my PC live, and I process the mix (sofware and harware) through the kx DSP to "master" it. I'll try micromastering plugins too! Thanks! |

Re: microenhancer/ microbuttom (aphex- like enhancers)
monofilter is a frequency- depending stereoimager (no spatial enhancer, if i am right). the x- over- filterslope can be be very high. donīt know if this is practically. i think 12db, 24db slopes are ok. other parameters "trim", "cut through" had no audible effect.. "width" is a "dry/wet- like" slider. theoretically a "kx - monofilter" is possible. let me try some code.
btw you can build a similar thing with existing kx- filters, mixers, stereo- imagers by your own by wiring some of these. (a simple stereo-base plugin can be found on my website) stylus |

Re: microenhancer/ microbuttom (aphex- like enhancers)
OK! Thanks I'll try to do it myself.
I understand that monofilter is used to avoid phase cancelation problems on the low frequencies. And another request, can you add a some control to mute/unmute the dry signal on microexiter? So it can be used like a send fx on a mixer. |

Re: microenhancer/ microbuttom (aphex- like enhancers)
here is how you can do this: http://freenet-homepage.de/stylish-s...reo_imager.jpg
set both frequencies to let's say 200 Hz. give the high frequencies more stereowidth and the low frequencies set to mono. mix the signal. i tried it with an old dancefloor- title "felix- don't you want me" which get's a really nice stereo image. a mute/unmute button only can be done in c++. this is a bit more work. you can set the plugin to wet and use the send- knob of your mixer as mute/unmute or use the plugin's bypass/mute switches, which are located in the lower left plugin- window. |
