I'm a new user of KX driver for my Win 7 OS. The driver version is 3550.
Well, it's perfect for music just with its default settings. But for either games or movies, the basic sound effects are too weak compared with the background's music. How can I solve this problem? Sorry I know nothing about dsp. It'd be appreciated if any seniors can send me a preset DSP solution file or a picture let me know how to deal with those stuff. Super thanks in advance! p.s. I'm using Creative SB Live 5.1 (0060) for a 2.1 speaker. |

well, actually i cant. i dont know what games u play. start a game, find options->audio settings. if there are surround or eax switch both off, if there are modes choose stereo.

also, check windows audio panel is set to stereo.
also, right click kx icon in windows bottom bar, go effects->surrounder(if any). in surrounder window select smth like strictly stereo(no copying, etc.) unfortunately i cant send u a dsp preset since i use another version of win and kx. about movies, u should check ur player or softwear decoder settings. anyway, u have stereo speakers -> set 'stereo' everywhere it could be set )greets |

actually if Windows audio panel is set to stereo instead of 5.1, he may be missing parts of the sound completely, like voices or something. Everything else should be set to stereo, though, as you suggest.

shouldnt i let my system and its audio components know i use stereo or whatever? isnt it like this: (i actually dont know, i assume, but i have thought like this ever since i can remember) 1. game audio is set to stereo, so it renders stereo and sends it to win 2. win audio is set to stereo, so it receives stereo, not bothering about mapping or anything else, and routes further to audio driver 3. audio driver (we have kx here) is set to stereo, so it receives stereo, also not bothering, and send it to physical out please correct if im mistaking, i want this things become clear to me |

Re: Help: How can I improve the sound effect for games and movies?
The thing is more a KX deal...... if you are using the default DSP then windows should be set to 5.1 but the speaker config in KX mixer should be set to match the speakers connected. (in this case 2.1 with no sub which is stereo, and have surround set to on) This way the game, or whatever, outputs all it's sounds and KX's dsp converts it to stereo.
I inadvertanly ran into this the other day in DiRT-2 demo on a new install of windows xp, I hadn't checked windows speaker setup and there were no voices or engine sounds in the game, but most of the other sounds were there. I was driving a silent truck but could hear the crowd and water splashing when I drove through a puddle..... weird. I checked and windows said I had stereo speakers, which is true, but KX relies on the fact that windows "thinks" it's 5.1 and KX handles all the surround to stereo mixing itself.
