Flat sound, monitor speaker alike

Can I make a flat line alike sound come out of the satelites of my 2.1 so it will be more like monitor speakers using the kx project?

Using Live! 5.1

Well, you can make it flat, but... I'm afraid it won't turn your 3.1 into monitors.

I want flat only what comes from the satelites not the sub.

Is there any chance my 2.1 will burn if I try this?

I'm interested in this too. As far as I can see the general idea is as follows:

1. Generate a tone sweep with equal volume through all frequencies. Record this from your listening position using a sound level meter/SPL (or a microphone).

2. Plot the recorded sweep and identify the peaks and dips. Use Max's 5-band parametric EQ to try to correct for the uneven response.

3. Repeat 1 and 2 until the response is as flat as possible.

This method takes into account of your room's response. I think if you wanted to do this purely on your speaker's output, youd need to carry out the above in the middle of a field!

I'd love to try this myself (I bought a SPL for the purpose) but haven't found the time to do the proper reading yet. What I do know is that the following tool would probably come in very useful:

I also know that using the DSP power of kx is pretty ideal for this sort of correction!

Anyway, I heard there are apps, that will do it for you, but never tried them myself.
