5.1 surround tweaks for Acoustic/Instrumental music
Hello folks,
I have a question on regards of 5.1 surround sound. I'd like to get the best effect on which one would feel like inmerse in music, specially on acoustic/instrumental. Currently i'm using Creative's Inspire 5200 5.1 speakers with my Audigy 1 Platinum card. I've set my surrounder module to 5.1 Movie but i feel like the rear speakers are still sounding like the front ones and furthermore, more silent. As far as i know rear speakers, more than the front ones, should provide that 3D feel of the sound. I know this is kind of a "taste" question, for everybody likes to hear their music in a different manner, but, if someone could just suggest a couple of tweaks i should make to my DSP panel to make my room sound like heaven, that would be great and i'd preciate the help. Thanks a lot in advance. ----Hardware / Software configuration--------------- Driver Name:kX Audio Driver (Debug) Driver Date: Aug 2 2003 22:07:58 Driver Version: 5.10.00.3534 - debug DB Name:LiveBay2 SB0090 10k2 [c000] PCI Information: Device: 41102 Subsys: 511102 ChipRev: 3 Card is '10k2' Card has MPU device Card model is '5.1' Card HAS AC97 codec Codec name: TriTech TR A5/CT1297 TAT 3D Extension: No 3D Stereo Enhancement Codec is 1.0 compliant Capabilities[0] : DAC resolutions : -16-bit- ADC resolutions : -16-bit- Ext Capabilities [0]: Port: c000 Irq: 5 Playback buffer: 20a0 Record buffer: 4000 Number of AC3 buffers: 4 Tank memory: 256 kb GSIF buffer: 256 samples OS version: [2 5 1 Service Pack 1; 2 5 1 Service Pack 1; 156 148] ---------------------------------------------------- |

1. make sure you use the '5.1 Direct Path' preset of the Surrounder (other presets modify the audio streams)
2. make sure you are using Wave 0/1 as your preferred audio device check your speakers with 'speaker test' utility (right click kX Mixer's systray menu) -- all 5.1 channels should sound separately /Eugene |
