HI,
how can I route an ac3 signal directly from my DVDPlayer to the SBlaster's SPDIF output, without software decode it ? I mean, route the ac3 to an external hardware decoder. Thanks for replys..... (I hope you've understand my english... :-) |

probably, toggling 'spdif bypass' will do the trick

I have the same problem, but when I turn on the "S/PDIF bypass" I have no sound from the external decoder. It´s should appear the Dolby Digital logo on the display of the decoder right? and when you play music It´s should appear the PCM logo. Ok, with the "S/PDIF bypass" deselected I have no problem to play music, but when I play an ac3 encoded film (from any source) the sound card detects it and decodes it an I get sound from the decoder, but in PCM mode (stereo) not in Dolby Digital mode. So I turn on the "S/PDIF bypass", but in this case the spdif get muted and no logo appears in the display.
I have a Soundblaster Live! 5.1 player digitally conected to a Yamaha RX-V440 AV reciver. I don´t know what to do!! thx in advance |

you cannot use both 'spdif bypass' and 'digital playback' features at the same time

And...
what I must do to listen a DD or dts encoded film? Deselect S/PDIF output only and turn on S/PDIF bypass? |

probably, the best way is to play / experiment with all the settings
>> route an ac3 signal directly from my DVDPlayer to the SBlaster's SPDIF output, without software decode it software decoding of an incoming signal is impossible for 10k1-based cards (such as Live/APS) if you click 'spdif bypass', the digital output of your card will not output the audio you are playing since the spdif interface will be in 'bypass' mode so, 'doo=on spdif_bypass=off' and 'doo=off spdif_bypass=on' might solve your problems /E |
