Musician Routing-Stereo Vocoder

I've just recently installed the KX drivers and I thought I'd post a few tweaks I've done.

I have an external mixer connected to the audigy line in, with a studio mic, keyboard and some other things.I use the Audigy Mic in with a custom connector (not using the +5 on the mic connector) to connect a guitar.

I started out with the default kx connections, then I downloaded the "plug in's in uniform" and switched
to "Reverb R" and "Eq G10" and "surrounder". Those plug in's are very impressive.

I rerouted the output of the prolog ac97 out into a G10 EQ so I can eq everything that comes from the line in and the mic inputs on the card without affecting wave out. I added a "stereo mix and Gain" between xsummr and Reverb and did the same between xsummc and Stereo Chorus.

That left me with a pair of unused inputs to reverb and chorus and I rerouted the prolog ac97 L and r outputs into
those unused inputs of the "stereo mix and gain". This allows me to use reverb and chorus on the ac97 inputs if I want to.

The next thing I did was to add the stereo vocoder between the prolog ac97out and the g10 EQ and I set the external mixer to have mic come out of the left channel and Keyboard coming out of the right channel, going into the audigy line input.

It works great. You can plop any other effect into that location as well. When I was getting started I didn't see a lot regarding how musicians were using these drivers so I thought this post might either give some people some ideas or have someone tell me that there's a better way to do what I'm doing...because I am a novice as far as these drivers go.

Anyway, these drivers are what these cards should have shipped with from the manufacturer...it's amazing what you can do and I haven't had a single problem so far except that I had to remove the mixer from the "run" registry start because it was causing some strangeness when multiple users were logged in and multiple copies of the mixer were running.

Thanks for some truly outstanding work Eugene and friends! I have a feeling these divers are really going to catch on.

yes, this is a known issue
multi-user configurations (especially with 'fast user switching' option turned on) can cause several problems

anyway, you need to run 'kxmixer --startup' in order to restore your previous settings
you can use 'kxmixer --startup --once' (since 3535 alpha) -- this will restore the settings and unload the mixer
