another VST idea
hi,
the idea is to have a simple VST plugin that saves/loads a complete (or partial) kx settings file. This way, loaded sounfonts, mixer, special dsp setups, etc. are stored in the song! Multiple instances of the plugin would be used to support multiple KX cards. I suppose the only user interface necessary would be a file dialog for importing/exporting settings files. This would solve a problem myself and I'm sure other musicians have with kx, and that is keeping track of the settings with the songs. Anyone agree? Comments welcome. |

Nice idea! Maybe another way to do it was if we could send a midi messages (syx-ex or a generally unused one) to kx mixer and it would load different settings according to those... Like a program change, but connected speciffically to kx dirvers...

A kX save/loader VST would be reletively straight forward to program as the concept is so simple.
1) A settings file is loaded into the Kx driver when the song loads it's VST plugins. 2) The current settings are saved when the song saves its data. 3) Import and Export of settings files is already in the kX drivers so is not an issue. |

but this is already possible with kX VSTi ![]() (and, btw, this is the main reason for using kX VSTi) it should automatically save / restore kX setup on project save/load (provided you have it enabled and a track assigned to it) /E |

Thanks, that's fantastic!
Ive been using kX since the beginning and had no idea of this feature. Today I'll be trying it out and I'll post back with any observations. I might also look at the doc and see if there is some text to be added. cheers! |
