Output Rerouting

I was wondering if it was possible on a Live soundcard, using the DSP, to reroute the line in on the back of the card to become say the front out port.

Thanks in advance,
Jared

you mean turn the input into an output?
i don't think this is possible, as it is only the more modern chips that can switch assignments, the only way to do this is a hard ware re-routing

Hmm... I'm confused then, how is it possible to get 5.1 sound out of this card? Does the mini-din output double as center/sub out?

Oh, another question, where do the headphones L/R on the epilog route to on the Live? What I'm mainly trying to accomplish is figure out some way to hook up my front audio ports on my case to the Live.

headphones route to either the sub/center on live! 5.1/audigy (if u set it to) or the headphone port in the live!/audigy drive.
Sounds like you only have a 4 channel card so there is no wa to get 5.1 w/o using an external DAC

Hmm, well there is this site that suggests the only difference between the original live and live 5.1 is the ID stored on this EEPROM: http://www.digit-life.com/articles/livetolive51/?98294 I was gonna try reprogramming it to see if it opens up any new features.

that is the only difference firmware wise, but there is no physical connection between the 5th and 6th channels on the chip to a DAC codec and then to an output jack

no sorry no tuts on it… but using the 10k1 pinout available somewhere i can't remember where… an DAC and some wires… it's possible, but be very careful if soldering… the 10k1 pins are very small if you bridge them you my just ruin your card

Hmm, yeah unfortunately I don't think I'd have the skill to do that without a tutorial. Thanks for all the help though.

Hi!

No, not really - for the moment only analog to digital or digital interconnection is available. I doubt that I make digital to analog next time, think, inputs are more important than outs to achieve multitrack recording at highest performance...

CU!

that is true travelrec, but simply changing the IC you used with a DAC, then it is quite possible to manage extra outputs

Kongio is on a distinguished road

If you want to build a DAC then try the following link.
It describes how to build an SPDIF to Analogue converter.

http://sound.westhost.com/project85.htm

Also mentions connecting to the pins on soundblaster cards

Ahh,

I see - quite clear - seems that I have to increase my stock of solder wire , but not yet - the 3 analog stereo pairs of the card are enough for hearing - for external recording I use the digital SPDIFs. So with 10k2 you can have 6 stereo out pairs - 3 digitals for DAC and the 3 analogs - cool, isn´t it?

Greetings!
