Cleaning audio
I would like to use kX to clean a bit audio tracks that were recorded on tape through mic (local concert)
Are there any plugins which I could use to clean those tracks? |

As far as I know there are no noise reduction plugins for kx. The best software for noise removing in my opinion is the former Cool Edit Pro, now Adobe Audition (or something like that). It has an excellent noise reduction system that I admire very much and it produces good results.

Noise reduction in general is achieved by getting a portion of the track where there is ONLY(I emphasize on that) noise and this will form the noise profile that should later be substracted from the whole track by means of FFT. In practice you should highlight a small portion(say 1sec at most) of the track where there is only noise, then open the noise reduction window and click 'Get Profile From Selection'. Close the window and now highlight the whole track and open the noise reduction window again, make the appropriate settings (which are very dependant on the type of noise that must be removed) and click OK. You should tweak the settings several times to achieve best results. The FFT size is generaly allright at 4096.
You might aswell try the other tools - hiss reduction, clip restoration, click/pop eliminator which might yield good results also. |
