E-MU PowerFX Hardware VST Effects
Seems like E-MU(Creative) has manage to make their newer cards handle full hardware-accelerated VST effects plug-ins, not in the usual E-Wire fashion, but in full blown selectable VST insert effects that can also handle automation. Kinda gives a little hope for us KX users since the E-DSP is somewhat similar to the Audigy 10k2 (I could be wrong).

Nope, they don't make VST effects hardware-accelerated, they rather make existing EMU dsp effects usable as VST effects through some interface.

Yep, Tiger is right. you can only use EMU's own effects, so forget about
accelerating your favorite VST(i)s with it. More interesting is wheter or not EMU provides an open programming enviroment for third party fx dev. /LeMury |

good Lord! D these japanese ninnys are crazy! " letting a few select people in"! I guess this means there will not be any "open" environment after all. This is only for their loss.

still you can use DSP plugins in VST sequencers… but in a more round-about way… i wonder if eugene could modify the DSP slightly to allow a VST controller to access the DSP? or maybe its technically too hard

Although I have no experience in modern programing (except for BASIC in the late seventies and early eighties with Apple 2's and commodores), I believe it can be done. It is just that Eugene has to go at it on a trial and error basis, because Creative/E-MU does not want to share their full information regarding the KX compatible cards. Maybe they think it might hurt their bussiness in some way.

it is currently impossible to hardware-accelerate any VST effect.
the only thing that currently exists is kX Automation / kX VSTi /E |
