MX6 wish list

The MX6 pluging is great. It would be greater with some improvements from my wish list.

It would be nice to be able to choose how many buses, MX3, MX8 or as many as could the resources support.

Also it would be helpful if you could rename each individual bus. So instead of IN1, IN2 you could label them say, Vocal, Bass, etc. Like you can the SCR or for that matter like a real world mixer.

Any DSP programmer want to jazz-up the MX6 plug or is the a nicer plug out there?

Nice idea this wishlist. The ability to rename the buses would be great. I've tried to program this but i failed. It also would be nice to have effectreturn inputs for the two sends, volumecontrol would be enough for this job. I think the most of us are trying to simulate a hardwaremixer with this fantastic plugin so features like channelinserts and other hardwarerelated stuff could show the direction of a possible development. Unfortunately i can't program it on my own but i hope there is someone out there who could do this job.
Many greetings to all KX-fans out there

Some of these suggestions are already more or less on my MX6 ToDo list.
- scribble strip (input labeling)
- slim VU meters per input channel
- different MX(n_channels) versions

Skinning,...hmm dunno, nice yes, but I'm a practical guy.
Panning per channel and channel inserts can be done, but would increase GPR usage dramaticly.

When?
Always a matter of time, time and time and for which driver version.
3538 SDK (not finished yet) may offer extended API functions to
do some nice stuff currently not possible. So I'm kinda waiting for that
to avoid double work.

Hey lemury...Why hasn't total skinng been implemented across the KX Api....I have MAx's UFX but I mean something simpler..like just a bitmap that goes right on the front..similar to winamp skin...Like in the case of the MX6..Most people that would be using it would have it visible most of the time during produstion..although functional and oh so cool..doesn't have very much asthetic appeal..

You can make it stay "always on top" by right clicking on the plugin's taskbar label (is that what it's called?) and selecting "Always on top" . Max just made this available on the plugin dialog.

LeMury:
If you like I can spend some time skining the MX6 and with my custom controls (the ones on the EF-X TubeDrive - knobs, LCD etc.) provided someone makes the appropriate images. If you're interested PM me.

Since LeMury doesn't want skinning, you can keep testing...

btw, I never had a chance to express my gratitude to LeMury's work on the src and kxlt, so I'll do it now. Thanks LeMury, great job! I'd say they are a very good (if not the best) contribution to kX, really usefull.

If I wanted to Skin the Mixer Myself..then I would have to use C++......The skin is low level is that correct?..moreover..its not a "SKIN" but Custom controls similar to the MAX M pack..or Tiger's Tube Drive..is that Correct?

Hey LeMury,

Any chances of these improvments being included in the 3538 final?

Maybe. 3538 offers (currently partialy implemented) enhanced features
for plugin development and 3th party add-ons.
With that in mind, it's not unlikely I'll rewrite MX6 or even write
a complete new 3538 based Mixer strip Add-on once 3538 gets 'stable'.
So it's still to soon to tell.

Well, I guess I'll also add some thanks for MX6 : I replaced the Surrounder with it so I could mix all the channels and get the same output signal to all outs (and be able to mix inputs for recording). I might load a second one to mix sources...

the present implementation of kx-addons is quite 'stable' in 3538 (from 3-rd party developer point of view) -- so, please feel free to share your thoughts on it.
