high pass
so what is the best plugin or effect to download that will allow me to control the frequencies sent to my desktop speakers, highpass, and then the lows? the standard driver already does a decent job of filtering out the highs from the sub, but how can i keep the lows from getting to the front speakers in my 2.1 setup?

Hi!
If possible, connect the desktop speakers and the subwoofer over an extra cable with the card, so FRONT L/R to the speakers and CENTER/SUB to the Sub (note: Center/Sub is the orange socket on back of the card in analog mode Center is left / Sub is right on a stereo jack) Then you are able to connect in DSP different FX (EQs) between the sources and each output to tweak the sound. Greetings! TravelRec.

Yep, and you can use a crossover to split the frequency range between the woofer and the speakers. I recomend the 4th order crossover effect.
