SRC and 5.1

I Guess Lemury would be the one the person to answer this..ok for the most part I am using the Default KX setup except for a few additions....what I am wondering...I have read quite a few time that the mixer page is not needed..so then I can Lose the X-routing module correct?..ok then if that correct then how do I configure the DSP using SRC's to still have my 5.1...
do I need to set each one for a stereo pair and then patch them to the surrounder+...
I am currently on a DSP page learning mission..taking your advice!
I just need a few pointers..
OK..to clarify..I just want the simpliest DSP setup to get 5.1 using PROFX..than I can save that as my base...an add from there..is this possible?...I have been trying but I get mixed results.. Thanks for your time

Yes. that's correct.
X-routing is nothing more then any other DSP mixer
(except for the fact that it's controled by kX Mixer. ..Kinda mixer in a mixer in a mixer etc...) which ties the whole default bunch together.
It's the first one should toss.

Yep, also correct. Simple isn't it?
However, if you connect the SRCs straight to the surrounder,
you loose seperate 5.1's channels level controls of course.
If you need that (i don't), put one of the many level/gains plugs in between.

ok thats what I am a little fuzzy on..how many SRC do I need for input to surrounder..then I guess I can use the Klt for the outs right?.....no your right I don't need all that leveling as long as it's not clipping I am happy....can you rough it out for me..I understand kinda how it would be done..earlier I set a SRC to 0/1 then patched that toL/R on the Surrounder...but is that correct?......Your plugs are the least resource intensive so I would like to use them as me base Patch..thanks for your help BTW

Nah,..I know you're smart enough to figure this one out yourself.
(Besided, I'm not a 'surrounder' addept)

Just take the Wavegenerator and Peak, and 'beep through' the Xrouting plug
to find it's mapping/signal routing.
How hard can that be?
(is a good exercise on signal routing btw)

The light went on when I figured out that the labels on the surrounder were like compass points. in_nw was north west, lol. Looking at the router helps too. I use five src's in all. FX bus 0/1 and AC97 line-in go into stereo mix with gain and that's my main left/right source. Surrounder top two.

Then my AC-3 signal is handled by the other three src's FX bus 4/5,(nw ne), 6/7, (sw se), and 8/9, (n and lfe.) The remaining surrounder inputs are for side and rear center speakers I think. Top is hilarious, maybe a ceiling speaker who knows. I left those empty.

I put gains and eq's in between surrounder outputs and K1lt. Works like a charm.
I tested with an AC-3 file and all is where it should be.

I use SB Live 5.1 with Soundworks speakers and sub, sounds great with the new drivers.
