Kristal works fine for me (ASIO In and Out) using an all ProFx config, so maybe it is a 10k2 issue only?

Does ASIO work for you at all (with any program) using ProFx (it would be odd if it worked in one program but not another)?

Russ,

ASIO works fine with the default DSP but not ProFX. The cards in this computer are SB0090 Audigy 1 and SB0350 Audigy 2 ZS, so maybe it is a 10k2 / ProFX / ASIO issue since Audacity, WMP, and Tiny Wave editor work fine with the custom DSP. I guess I will try Kristal with MME devices and ProFX.

Thanks for your help,
Doug

Russ,

You were right. I switched to an MME device in Kristal and the DSP works fine. I wonder if I am the only one with ProFX / ASIO issues?

Thanks,
Doug

It is probably somehow related to the new 24 bit stuff... Of course if another 10k2 user could verify it would be good...

In any case, it is probably just an issue with the SRC plugins using Fxbus, so the best workaround would be to use FxBus instead of SRC. The rest of the ProFx plugins should be OK (assuming ASIO input works correctly for you).

BTW: Check the ASIO Control panel and verify that it is set for 16 bit when using ProFx (as I think 10k2 cards have 24 bit option now? I do not know, I am just guessing here... just check the settings and see if there is anything there that might make a difference).

Russ,

I had to use FXBusX, then MX6 and k2LT worked. I was about to try out the ProFXADC when my daughter took over the computer. I will check back when my daughter gets tired but for sure ProFXSRC ASIO is not working on my setup.

Thanks for your help,
Doug

While preparing my 2 card setup with the 3544a drivers, I found that ProFXSRC does not function for FXBus outs (per Russ), but appears to work for other functions. Using ProFXSRC as SPDIF ins (SB0090-Host Card) from the SPDIF outs (SB0350-Client Card) works properly.

Here is my current 2 card DSP setup for 3544a:

Yeah, that is what I figured...

So regular FxBus (or whichever FxBus plugin the default config used with your card(s) in previous versions of kX) does not work for ASIO output either?

I wonder if maybe 16 bit ASIO was dropped in favor of 24 bit (or maybe it is just a kX bug (I had thought that 24 bit was optional)) with non-10k1 models...

Did you check the ASIO Control Panel for new formats (i.e. to see if it offers both 16 bit and 24 bit options, etc)?

FXBusX was the only one that worked for me.

Yes I tried out all the options. There are 2 24 bit options. I haven't tried recording in 24 bit yet but here are the options offered:

10kX 16 bit/48 kHz (16+16)
10kX 16 bit/44.1 kHz (16+0)
10kX 16 bit/48 kHz (8+8)
10kX 16 bit/44.1 kHz (8+0)
10kX 16 bit/48 kHz (2+2)
10kX 16 bit/44.1 kHz (2+0)
10k2 24 bit/48 kHz (8+0)
10k2 24 bit/48 kHz (8+8)

I wonder if that is intentional... You might want to post a bug report about that since it is likely the same issue effecting the SRC plugins (with Fxbus).

Thanks for the info.

I think this is probably a kX bug, since E. mentioned "If you are using FXBus and FXBus2, you won't get 24-bit!", but he did not say anything about ASIO output not working at all with those plugins (of course this assumes that other 10k2 users are having same issue).

I just checked the default DSP for 3544a and it does use FXBusX. I will mention it in the bug reports hoping that Lex sees it and has time to get around to updating ProFX for 3544a.

Sorry, what I meant was, report that ASIO output no longer works using FxBus and FXBus2 with your card(s), not necessarily anything about ProFx:SRC, since it is probably the same issue for all the them.

i.e.
Assuming this is a kX bug, Lex should not have to update the SRC plugins unless he wants to add 24 bit support. If it is not bug, but rather a new feature, well then that is a different story, and I do not know (again it does work with my 10k1 card).

Confirmed - Latest ProFx:SRC no longer allows ASIO playback with kX V3544a. Damn - I wish I tested the bundled version of ProFx:Src - but I didnt. Sorry.

Edit: Also, ProFx ASIO doesnt work for 24 bit either - only left channel is recorded. /edit
Edit again - ProFx:ASIO Doesnt work for 16 bit either now. - only left channel gets recorded. /edit again

That is correct.
Best to wait untill Eugene is done and take things from there.
No guarantee though. For all I care this is the end of profx I/O plugins.(at least for 10k2)
The 'normal' profx plugins are not affected of course as is probably ADC.

niiice. however, ASIO and SRC were working fine in the last version. were they working only on 16 bit? do Max M's plugins work in 16 or 24 bits?

On 10k1 they worked (of course), on 10k2 however they didn't.

All audio plugins in the DSP work in 24-bit. (well, 32-bit actually)
The only exception is audio data on XTram delay lines which are compressed down to 16-bit.

You *should* not need to - installing new ones overwrite the old ones (or updates them, what ever)

hi Lex! Thanks for updating the plugins for 24-bit. You don't mind if I add the .kxl to the next driver release? (And also add missing ProFX GUIDs to 'categories.ini')?
