Re: NEW: ProFx (3538) Update Incl. MX6 and AC97
I tried the 3550 driver on an old test machine with an 4830 value card and couldnīt make it play any sounds. I tried to connect an src to the mx6 and also straight with the output, but nothing...
So I went back to the 3545 driver which works fine. |

Re: NEW: ProFx (3538) Update Incl. MX6 and AC97
Were you using the latest ProFx, or the bundled ones? With 3550 you want the lates ones that Lex posted above, the bundled versions may not work. I did a DSP last night and it worked straight away.

No sound at all (with default DSP), or no sound whilst using latest ProFx plugins? That is all too weird. |

Re: NEW: ProFx (3538) Update Incl. MX6 and AC97
I used the bundled ProFX plugins. That might be it, as I donīt remember for sure whether the first test to play a file was with the default setup or whether I straight went to wiring up something in the DSP Window.
Btw. this seems to be an old Dell OEM Card (4830). The Installation Process didnīt recognize the card, and I had to guide the Windows Driver Installation Process to the .inf file by hand and show it the card type. As I said, it worked perfectly fine after that with the version 3545. Last edited by janez; Sep 27, 2009 at 01:17 AM. |

Re: NEW: ProFx (3538) Update Incl. MX6 and AC97
I've got one of those exact cards, not installed at the moment, but I could pop it in a system and try it. As you say this card worked with 3545...... should work with these. The older versions always loaded correct drivers no problem for me, did they for you?

Re: NEW: ProFx (3538) Update Incl. MX6 and AC97
After I directed the installation process to the .inf file it showed a 4832 as a compatible card. I made it show all cards and selected the 4830 as it is printed on the card, and it worked. That was with 3545
In 3550 it seemed to only allow a kx generic driver. |

I've always used the 4832 as that is the Dell OEM number, or "an OEM" number, from what I understand. It's always worked for me. It could, still just be the ProFX version you were using though.....

Re: NEW: ProFx (3538) Update Incl. MX6 and AC97
I guess so. Somewhere in some other thread I read that in a case like that you might have some cosmetic differences but still the full functionality. When installing the 3550 driver at least I made shure to pick a 10k1 profile.
Iīll try again one of these days and update the profx plugins, too. |

Re: NEW: ProFx (3538) Update Incl. MX6 and AC97
I just tried again. Same procedure. The card was not recognized, I picked a generic KX profile and it installed 3550.
Apparently it has to do with ProFx. I could play a file via the default DSP Setup and it worked. But when I tried to register profx 310_48 it said "Error invalid Progam library. Is that the latest version of profx? |

Re: NEW: ProFx (3538) Update Incl. MX6 and AC97
No issues here Lex. I've got 3 machines running 3550 and your ProFX310_48 plugins, one of them I did not use ProFX yet but they did register fine, the other two machines your plugins work great........ (Just a simple DSP for testing)
@janez ..... one of the two above has the 4830 card, it installed fine for me and KX called it a 4831, it did use a "generic" driver automatically I noticed. Works as expected with default DSP and the ProFX....... soundfonts as well. I don't know where the difference would be between our two cards...... XP 32 bit and Win7 32bit. One machine with 3 gig ram, all 3 machines "older" but very different from each other so I have a lot of variables covered.

Re: NEW: ProFx (3538) Update Incl. MX6 and AC97
The first try with 3550 was with the bundled Profx plugins
This time, during the installation process I disabled the installation of profx as I was going to register the new version later on anyhow Does that make a difference? This is all under WinXp Sp2 btw |

Re: NEW: ProFx (3538) Update Incl. MX6 and AC97
I never disabled the bundled profx install, just reg the new ones after KX is installed, it's never given me a problem doing it that way. I put the plugins in the directory I want them, right click on the file and choose "Register" from the dropdown menu.... it's always worked for me.
You're unzipping the .rar to ProFX310_48.kxl before trying to reg the plugins, right? (some readers might miss that, who knows) I'm on XP sp3, but I doubt sp version makes any diff......

when you try to register a plugin, it means almost always a mismatch between the kX Driver version and the Plugin version you try to register. ProFx 3.10_48 however *is* compatible with 3550 (I just checked myself) so there must be something else going wrong in your particulair case. Btw, unrecognized/corrupted/weird card IDs are usualy not a problem with kX and any plugin as long as the card is supported by kX. /Lex. |

Re: NEW: ProFx (3538) Update Incl. MX6 and AC97
I just un- and reinstalled the driver again and included the profx Plugins this time. Now the bundled profx does work, but when I try to update with ProFx310_48 it still says ""Error invalid Progam library". Maybe I made some kind of mistake in the wiring the first time. But that doesnīt explain why the new file wonīt register.
And of course I unzipped or rather unrared it first. Good point, but I did that already. I even downloaded the file again. strange 3550 is a cool update btw, some more categories in the plugin menu and the integration of the modular synth and the micoreffects.... nice But the "Plugins in Uniform" donīt seem to be included. I downloaded UFX 1.54.3539 and it also wonīt install. It says it needs a driver version 3538 or later. I have 3550 installed. I tried to install Version 3538 and it installed, but when I try to add a plugin in the dsp window I get an Error message. Last edited by janez; Sep 27, 2009 at 10:49 PM. |

That is strange because it registered no problem for me....... I never checked the bundled version myself.

Re: NEW: ProFx (3538) Update Incl. MX6 and AC97
You are using the x86 (32 bit) version of kX, right?
You will also get the invalid plugin library error if you try to use a 32 bit plugin on the 64 bit version of kX (or vice versa). ProFx310_48 is for the 32 bit version of kX only. |

Re: NEW: ProFx (3538) Update Incl. MX6 and AC97
You got us really curious now janez!
Are you using 64 bit driver version?? PS: Forget about ufx for now. IIRC it hasn't been updated a long time and "3538 or later" doesn't mean it works with current >354x versions. |

the filename is kxdrv3550-x86-full.exe. Sounded right to me. What does IIRC stand for?

Re: NEW: ProFx (3538) Update Incl. MX6 and AC97
Ah, yes that might be it!
Most windows users have it already installed through windows update etc. (I'll see if I can compile without that dependancy) Janez, you can get Dependancy walker here; Dependency Walker (depends.exe) Home Page Just load the profxxxx.kxl and It will show if you have MSVCR80.DLL missing. @Lex,
BTW: I am not sure if you are aware of this, but the MX6/MX8 peak meters do not register the negative side of waveforms. |
