I run an internet radio station, and I recently purchased an Audigy 2 Value card. Since I use multiple inputs into the soundcard during a show, I would like to normalize the volume of all these inputs to a decent level.
Right now, the mp3s I play with Winamp are much louder than the wav files I play with Windows Media Player, and the incoming phone calls via Skype are lower then the other two, etc. I use the "what U hear" output to actually broadcast all these inputs. Is there a good plugin or method to use to make all these inputs generally the same level? IF so, I'll install the KX drivers and start using them. Thanks for any advice. |

Hi, i have a little radio and may be i can tell you some interesting:
first of all DON'T use windows media player, it's crop! For winamp there two plugins made by a friend of mine : --->Sound Solution - multiband compressor, expander, limiter for fm broadcasting and internet webcasting: ---> Tomass Limiter: the name sounds it clear, it's a two bands compressor limiter u can get both of them here Anyway i suggest u to install kX driver, they give u much more control on your soundcard and better quality. hoping this will help u, have a nice day |

I've tried to use the special "linein" plugin mentioned on that site, but couldn't get it to work properly. All I got was looping feedback. |

You have two excellent hardware compressors in kX - Dynamics Processor and APS Compressor. You can assign a wave device to each of the above apps and put a compressor instance on each stereo pair.
EDIT:Then you can mix them and send them to the appropriate output(s). I suggest you search the forum and download the latest version of the Dynamics Processor - it is excellent.

Hi, Tiger... u are right though i really don't like APS compressor, i don't think it so effective to be used for broadcasting, much better Dynamics Processor 4.0.
The Plugins i was talking about are mada by a Professional FM projector Alessandro Tomassini (he makes most of italians fm trasmitters), they are studied to do broadcasting and webcasting.... Line in lugin is tricky to set but iw WORKS SO GOOD! I'saying these because i love kx but there is not only kX ... there are some plugins that together with kx are more powerful... I mean get a vst host, load a compressor limiter and u can again proces everything.. it's just up to what u have, want, like to do, with kX, knowledge, creativity u can have the whole control on your audioborad..(I DO HAVE)! |

Is there anyone who can make the winamp plugin 'sound solution' dockable on the kx-driver. It would be the best day of my life. As my server is not so fast, and soundsolution uses a lot cpu, this could be the best solution for a really heavy sound! |
