KX DSP configuration
Hi, I have the SB LIVE 5.1 and I still have configured the DSP to record in Cubase VST vwith kondensed Mic via the pink mic-input of the SB.
My speaker are connected with the green Line out 1. My config is such as presented on this HP: http://au.geocities.com/kxcubase/ Now I wanted to add headphones but in the specifications its declared that only green output supplies headphones and that the black Line Out 2 could used as the output for speakers, but the black out doesn't work when I connect the speakers. So, I want to use the green one with Mic and the black with speakers. Does anybody know how to configure the DSP for this setup? Thanks Chris

... Hi.
The green output is the default front speaker output, the black the default rear speaker output. You can switch them, but you cannot connect the mic to the "green hole..." It's an output!!! The mic can only be connected to the "mic(pink) hole" or the" linein(blu) hole". If u connect the mic to the line in i guess you should use a preamp. |

Hehe, I think he meant headphones.
Try using the "Swap Front and Rear" option in kxmixer to send the front channels to the black output. Then tell your software to use kX Wave(6/7) for the headphones/monitoring, and connect FxBus(6/7) directly to the Analog Rear Channel connections of epilog. |

I have the same problem : I'm also using a SB Live 5.1 and I have only sound on the green output, there is nothing on the black one.
Here is my DSP config : http://besace.free.fr/misc/DSP_Kx.png I have headphones plugged on Rear output and speakers plugged on Front and I have sound only in my headphones (Rear and Front are swapped and all softwares use Wave 6/7 ). When I used the default settings of DSP I tried the preset 'rear = front' in Surrounder but there was the same problem. I tried many things to put sound on the Front output but nothing worked and I didn't find any solution on this forum. (yes my searches may be bad )

Wait a sec, looking at the picture of your setup, that does not make any sense. Considering you have a stereo mix plugin connected to both Front and Rear, you should have sound either in both, or none at all, so something else is wrong there.

My guess is, either you are explaining your setup wrong (how your speakers are connected), and you have a SB022x card with the rear channel problem, or one pair of your speakers is dead or not connected properly (if when using the setup in your picture you are only getting sound from one pair of speakers).

I should specify that I don't use headphones for monitoring, I always use them for listening but I'd like to have speakers connected to the other output when I need to put sound on speakers. I agree that I should have either sound on both outputs or none at all but I know that my speakers are working fine and that they are correctly plugged so I only see a hardware problem but neolein seems to have the same problem that's why I find that quite strange =). |

Ok, your situation is a little different than neolin's (and he/she has not responded as of yet, to let us know if it is working or not.)
If your are sure that the speakers are connected correctly (and since you are using kxlt, there are no volume sliders to deal with), then I can only guess (you haven't told us which model SB Live 5.1 you have as of yet) that you have one of the SB022x cards with the rear channel problem. This issue should be fixed in 3538i. See the sticky thread about that issue in the General forum. What you can do in the mean time (if this is the case), is to use the Center/Subwoofer/Digital jack for your speakers, instead of the rear jack (or read that thread for other options). |

Thanks a lot, I didn't see that thread and I didn't even know that I could use the Center/Sub output as an analog output, what a big n00b I am
![]() I'll try to read the whole thread and see if I can do something or if I should wait for the next version of the drivers. By the way, here is my sound card model : Code:

It can be confusing when you first start using kX.
If it says "Codec name: Unk AC97-codec [83847658]", then your card definitely is one of the models effected by that problem. Since you are not using Center/Sub for anything else, your best bet is to just use Center/Sub for now, and wait for the next driver release. |
