How to connect a VST-host to KX?

Problem description:
I use Sibelius notation program and I need to play my score through VST-host (Xlutop Chainer with Synful Orchestra VST-i loaded).

How to configure KX-DSP (v.3537) for this?

Please, give me step-by-step instructions.

Thanks in advance...

Russ is just super!Russ is just super!Russ is just super!Russ is just super!Russ is just super!Russ is just super!

It would be helpful if you could post some more info.

i.e.
What model soundcard do you have? 10K1 based cards have an "Asio mapping issue" (search the forum) that can complicate the setup.

What does Sibelius use to output sound? I am guessing that it uses midi, in which case you would connect FxBus 2/3 to a pair of the Asio connections of epilog (or ProFx Asio), then set your VST-Host to use that pair as it's input. Then you would also need to tell your VST-Host which outputs to use. Kx Wave 0/1 is usually fine for that.

You may want to read Lemury's A Newbie Guide - "How to setup Cubase SX with KX". Although it is written for Cubase, it does contain some general info (including some info on the Asio mapping issue with 10k1 cards), and it may be helpful to you, to see how you would go about setting up another Asio host (like Cubase) to help you figure out how to set up your Vst-Host, etc.

Thank you Russ for quick reply.
My card is Audigy1.
I'm really dummie with ASIO, VST and I don't use Cubase, Sonar etc.
I use the simple pair (Sibelius + Gstuido) with minimal KX-DSP config.
But now I'd like to change from GStudio to Synful. And it trobled me, because Sibelius does not contain its own VST-host.

Your unstructions partly cleared the way I should try.

No need to.
In your case even the default DSP setup will work without modifications
since you only do VSTi ASIO playback.

I guess Sibelius uses MIDI to playback it's score.
So in that case you'll have to use/install MidiYoke (or similair)
to get MIDI data from Sib into Chainer.

Setup,
- Sib to playback it's midi through MidiYoke,
- Chainer to recieve it's midi from MidiYoke,
- Chainer to use kX ASIO Driver and kX ASIO outputs 0/1

HTH,
/LeMury

From Lemury's reply, I think I misunderstood what you were trying to do (not being familair with the software (particulairly Synful Orchestra)). I understand now. Sorry for any confusion.
