Please help me figure this out(i bet it's simple)...
Hi,
i read alot trough these forums lately and i downloaded 3538 drivers because a friend told me that reverb station is a really nice reverb. I figured i could give it a try because i own a dsp card What bothers me is how to use this reverb as a send effect in cubase as i would any other reverb(setting an fx channel and then adjusting the send level on the audio channel i want reverb on) i read trough all the faqs but i think none of them adresses my problem.Best regards... |

1st thing you will need to do is get fimiliar with the kX DSP window. Theres a fairly steep learning curve, but thats because its so powerfull.
As to your cubase question, I dont think there is a way to add reverb station or any other DSP effect "as a cubase pluggin on cubases mixer strips". What you need to do is setup an extra set of ASIO outputs and ASIO inputs in Cubase. Then set the track you want to run kX effects to that ASIO output. Then that tracks audio will appear on the FXBus in kX's DSP (or use the Pro SCR Pluggin). Once you have the audio in kX DSP you can then add or chain any combination of kX effects you like. Then Using the DSP route this audio back to the ASIO input channel you created in cubase. Now you can setup a new audio track to that ASIO input channel for recording the "effected" track. Not sure if there is an easier way to do this, but i know this works. Toad |

In cubase SX3 - you can configure a 'HARDWARE FX' send in the VST connections settings.
But you must NOT have the desired ASIO channels defined on the IN and OUT pages first for them to be available - like I presume is typical in cubase (sorry not a cubase expert) This makes a send to external (or KX DSP, like toadly explained) act much like a VST effect. The routing internal to cubase aspect of it anyway. Last edited by Maddogg6; Nov 26, 2005 at 10:24 PM. |

Also - to be more clearer - the 'EXTERNAL FX' are now an available effect as an insert or a send.
They also need to be enabled and make sure they're not bypassed - (there many ways to make cubase silent, and I do find it cumbersome just trying to do basic stuff) But Im making a point to learn more (and become more comfortable with) cubase - if nothing else, just for audio stuff - as midi implementation is just too laborous to set up 'just right' for how Im used to working. I can have a half a song writtten in sonar by the time I have a cubase project configured. But I know some of this is 'new tricks for an old dog' - so.... |
