@Max,
I just installed 3538L, and it seems that most 3538k plugins are compatible (other than some possible skin issues mentioned by Eugene in the 3538L release thread). However, during the UFX installation, I get the following error: "Fatal Error: Incorrect kX FX Library. Reinstall kX software" I am not sure what that error means exactly, but the UFX.kxl registers successfully, and the UFX plugins that I have tested thus far seem to work fine. -Russ |

I am guessing it is an error from kX, and not your installer (I do not see the error, if kxmixer is not running during the installation). When I do see the error, it is immediatley before the Installation Complete dialog info is shown.
<edit> Normal installation has UFX install and it restarts kxmixer. With 3538l, UFX installs, I see the above error, and kxmixer exits (does not restart). When I manually restart kxmixer, the UFX plugins are there. Here is a screenshot of the error... (kx debug info shows: kxmixer: kxfxlib error is 1) <edit> Last edited by Russ; Sep 18, 2006 at 08:11 PM. |

ah, ok. so i assume it is not critical stuff. i'll take a look at leisure (i can guess why this happens and it really could be the ufx installer's fault - just can't see why it is not repeatable (maybe some specific kxdsp and/or system/whatever config?))

BTW: When I installed 3538L, I did a clean install, so all the settings were the defaults. |

Thanks Mark,
I guess other people need not reply, unless they did get the error... I wonder if something went goofy with my kX install or something (although everything seems to work correctly). Oh well, just curious... <edit> I uninstalled kX again, used driver cleaner, manually removed some files that were left behind, re-insatlled kX, re-installed UFX, and still got the same error, so I do not know what might be causing it on my system. </edit> Last edited by Russ; Sep 24, 2006 at 04:53 AM. |

_would be great also th the plugins would install in a separate directory,i mean in a separate Menu _selection (as for Profx). Now i'm gonna try them

i was not proud enough to ask for making a separeted ufx sub-menu - well, kX's menu partitioning is quite weird - so well historically - ufx plugins are messed up through there (not too much though - just 'filters' and the main)

I am another to opt for the UFX Sub-Menu. My thoughts are you should be very pruod of those plugins and they took alot of work so you should be very proud. IS it possible to add the menu now? by moving the files?..etc? or does it have to be done by Eugene or the others? It does make it a little more dificult for newbies, BUT I figure if your that new that you can't find them you aren't ready for them anyway...Just my opinion. It would make things easier.

Same here. A submenu and "UFX" prefix for all Max's effects.

Yes, you can customize plugin menus by editing the categories.ini file (found inside kxskin container) - but it's impossible to add a new submenu though (only existing menus) |

Hiya Max M.:
I've been without a PC and frequent Internet access for about a year, but I'm back with a new PC and Internet access at my home, again. I want to give a very big THANK YOU SO MUCH for updating your UFX Plugins for 3538l!!!!!!! They are a Professional sounding set of FXs, and using them saves precious CPU power when one uses the kX effects rather than software based FXs, and since your UFX plugins are of such good quality, the kX user notably benefits from the use of the UFX plug ins!!!!! You and LeMury are very dear assets to the kX community! We're so lucky to have you around. Thanks for your work!Cya around.

Just thought I would mention that I got the same error again installing UFX with 3538m, that I did with 3538L. In any case, it is not a big deal (again it is probably something related to my system), as again, UFX works fine anyway.

First, I'm not sure if kX officially supports Windows server 2003.
Second, the UFX package to use with the .3538m kX Audio driver is UFX 39 Pre-Release (3538k) (UFX 1.53.3539). You can get that version of UFX from here: http://www.geocities.com/russell_garber/plug.html You can try out that version and see how things work for you in Win Server 2003 until Max M. or somebody else may reply to your post.
