Guys please tell me what is TDP??? I first thought that it was the maximum power a component can draw. Then i got to know that i was wrong. It is actually related to the heat production i think. My card has tdp of 106w but according to reviews it can draw upto 150w of power but a gtx 650ti for example has tdp of 110w but the max power it draws is only 130w..I am confused here.

I have a very poor 1 Mbps connection in my home. I have a 802.11n wifi router which supports 300 Mbps down, don't know about up. I have a WiFi dongle in my pc as my pc don't have WiFi out of the box so i added one and i connect my pc to the router through WiFi instead of the Ethernet that most people do. I had heard people saying that using wifi results more latency and lag while gaming and now i am confused....should i use wifi as i am using now or should i connect my pc to modem through ethernet port for online gaming???

I have a 36 in Toshiba HDTV I got just a couple years ago.

The other night, totally out of the blue, it quit accepting commands from the remote. At first I thought it was just the Comcast Universal Remote that may have some how lost the code.

But, no, even the remote that came with the TV won't work...at all!

I'm reading that the IR receiver has likely died.

Have any of the members here run across this? And, if so, did you get it fixed, fixed it yourself, or, what did you do?

I've gone through the options to do a factory reset and that hasn't done any good at all.

We had a power outage here tonight during a very severe storm. I was at work at the time. But, I have a UPS on my PC so, any shutdown should have been "smooth".

When I got home and started up the PC, the first thing I noticed was that my mouse wasn't coming on. That was easily fixed just by pulling the USB plug and re-plugging it in. (Still a bit worrisome, though.)

The next thing I noticed is that there was an uneven "fan" noise coming from my PC. At least, at first, I thought it was a fan. It turns out that at least one of the Hard Drives is going through some kind of looping/pulsating function that I've never, ever detected until now. And, it continues to do it.

So far, all temps are within range and nothing else seems to be amiss. But, this uneven pulsating vibration is causing me some concern.

Ideas?

However, if I keep scrolling up for a while it suddenly starts working again for a few days until it happens again.

Now, I don't think there is some kind of max mileage on the wheel... but it certainly seems like it. I guess it's just coming to an end, i just find it a bit strange.

I've been converting a lot of my mp3's into FLAC recently, since the purchase of some pretty high quality speakers ( PSB Image series, T5, B5's, C5 ) .. I've come to appreciate .WAV and FLAC recordings so much more at this point it's hard for me to go back and listen to MP3's, be it 128 or 320 bit.... Going further down this road, I know that there are some releases you can get in 24bit, 96khz .. Would I need a proper sound card to really take advantage of these? like a soundblaster Xfi or what have you? or will my GTX 680 do a decent enough job. I run HDMI not Analog so I'm not worried about DAC's at all. Under advanced properties of the Nvidia I've got it set to studio quality as is, 24bit, 192000hz - but I don't know if that setting actually allows for it, or if it doesn't really mean anything.

Hi, Im trying to build a computer for gaming, mostly RTS and some RPGs. I would like to be able to play these two up coming gaming on the max settings or at least close to that upon there release, company of heroes 2 and Total War: Rome 2

My budget is around $750 (before shipping) and ill will be buying all my parts from the USA. I don't have a brand preference so if you would like to make some suggestions from other brands please full free to do so (I would like to keep my case though). I will be building the entire thing from scratch and will be keeping my old Dell SE198WFP 19 inch LCD Monitor. My max resolution is 1440 by 900. I will also be keeping my old mouse, keyboard and speakers. No plans for over clocking but somewhere down the line i might. I plan on ordering it within the next 2-3 weeks. I'm a little nervous when looking for parts because i'm afraid not everything would be compatible. Your in put is greatly appreciated. Thank You

HEY HEY!
Just upgraded my Lucid Virtu MVP 1st generation to Virtu MVP 2.0
Must say that Lucid first generation was not always stable and no wonder why I got it for free with my motherboards. I basically needed the software for Virtual graphics to allow Intel’s quick sync work faster (my screen is connected to the discrete GPU). For those who are asking what is the difference between MVP 1 & 2. The GUI is different .NET 4.5 and great on Win8 and 7, they now automatically support game, at least I played 10 games and only one had some micro stuttering and in rest I felt that game is totally running smoother. For those who have MVP 2.0 it would be nice to hear you impression.

Thanx

This is my granddaughter's PC and she had all kinds of problems with it.

First of all, the Touchpad stopped working last year. So, she's been using a USB Mouse. That is, up until recently when the USB port stopped working.

She also had THREE antivirus programs running! YIKES!

And, she had so many programs related to social interaction starting up it was any wonder anything at all could work!

But, I've cleaned up a lot of this and can get a Desktop in Safemode. But, in normal Windows all I'm getting is a mouse cursor and a black screen.

I can CTRL-ALT-DEL all night long to get to the Task Manager but it seems that no other key inputs are working. For example, I cannot CTRL-ESC to being up the Start menu.

I've run the PC in Safemode with Networking to get updates for such as Malwarebytes and let that do a full scan. It found, initially, 59 problems!

This system has Windows 7 Home Premium x64 installed.

One trick I've tried is going into Task Manager and attempting to start a New Task, Explorer. No dice.

I've also attempted to run the Start Up diagnostics under the Windows Repair option. It actually isn't finding anything because this problem appears to be letting Windows start, just not bringing up the Desktop with Icons.

So, I'm scratching my head to come up with something to get it working in normal Windows.

Suggestions?
