What about a competition for the more "seasoned" DH members?

I noticed that with past competitions, The winners have been those that signed up just to win, recieved their prize , and most never came back or arent active posters at all.

I don't know for sure but I have a feeling no active member is going to be a winner in the 10k competition. If that turns out to be the case how about a competition for the more active/long term members?

some regulers have one...cant remember who comes to mind..ATM. But pretty sure it isnt just driveby winners..

I have been coming here for years, never won anything and I never give it a thought really, DH means a lot of things to me in terms of what my expectations are, but never a site where I just win stuff or win anything.. I mean just being tolerated by the staff is an honor in itself, imagine if we had to stand at the same bus stop...sheesh.

regular members have won a lot of prizes - DJ stick mentioned a few above, if people would do a little research before posting their "feelings" it would make a bit more sense.

You guys really have to understand that (with some competitions) for a company to donate hardware they want maximum input. they dont want 200-300 regulars just entering and omitting others. It also doesn't always make good sense for DH to eliminate people who will come to the site perhaps to enter the competition then hang around and become active members.

I don't think you can expect us to have 10,000 euros of hardware and to only strictly allow only active members to enter. How would we work out active members? post count? then what about regulars who dont post much but visit every day?

Its a complicated thing to run to everyone's satisfaction and everytime we run one we normally end up with 3 or 4 threads in feedback from people who want something specific, but we do it the best we can.

I just want to add to what Z said...

The more popular the site is the better for all of us, more popular means more revenue, more popular means more weight in opinion forming so more hardware/software reviews for us to read, more revenue means better, faster, higher capacity servers, all of which go to making this place the place it is.

If a percentage of those people that joined just for the competition stay and become regular members that also means more valuble opinions and knowledge when I hit a problem that completely stumps me and need the advice of people I trust to know the answer.

It all works for me...

I have just found out that the winner of the 50inch plasma is a forum member by the name of SHIKE. Who has over 800 posts. the other winners will be announced shortly.

to keep this organised, the main thread in NEWS is locked with announcements, and that thread links to off topic for discussion.
