so how many +1 rep points does one need for the check marks (midnight heaven theme) to go up by one?

I think it's either 100 or 200, you gotta remember that this is a long term thing, it's no good if by next week everyone has full rep, like me *cough*

It'll take time to build to make sure it actually is a reputation.

Well, you form a group with "X" friends, and then have a rep party.

I think it's "natural" for the reputation system to be "over-used" the first week, because people wants to try it and then it fades down to normal use, where people only use the reputation button, when it's really needed.

well.....reputation for me seems to not go beyond 20 people. i've tried giving people reputation, but i guess there's only about 20 or so of us in here that are actually active enough for me to give rep to . whenever i want to give somre rep points to somebody, it says "you must spread your reputation around first before you can give this person more reputation". lol.

Ok, so its 1 repping power for everyone, then +1 (hence 2) for every 2 years membership. Right? Then +1 for every 10K posts? Is that what craig said? So how is it that I have 3 rep power? I have less than 10k posts. And how is it that after only 2 reps I have 23 rep points? Someone must have been here 30 years and have 60K posts? Then plus one rep from a new member? Or am I wallowing in confusion? What about a page explaining all this?

Got to say I really like this rep idea. Especially in replys to reviews, where you may be inclined to give more merit to replys by higher repped members than you would to others. It would give reviews a broader testing platform, when high repped members who may be using the hardware under review could chime in with their experiences. I read a review of a Miackie 400f on this thread http://acapella.harmony-central.com/...readid=1097071
where everyone contributed to give a fuller picture. They also had a mackie engineer take part in it. (such a participant would of course have maximun reputation for the purposes of the review). Does this seem like a decent idea or am I going insane?

to my understanding, the way rep points work is basically by how long you've been a member. so, if you've been here 1yr. it's 1 point, 2yrs. 2 points., etc. i don't know about being a 10k member tho. if you get an extra point for being a 10k member, then i would be giving me a 4 point rep power.

I made my calculations from here, CDs. Lets see if craig can confirm this.

Falstaff, yes, it boggles the mind what can be achieved review-wise when u have many contributing members who know their stuff and who can give their own experiences with reviewed hardware. Plus the advantage for transient members who are simply seeking a strtaightforward review with as many platforms as possible commented on. Its a wonderful way to differentiate between posts u can rely on and posts that MIGHT be better ignored. "Open source" reviewing! Awesome! What constant DH reader hasnt read the reviews here b4 purchasing??

Ok, thanks figured it out. I have a rep power of 2 - thought that was my reputation, which didn't sound too good.

lol.....i had forgotten about that post .

well, aside from being here a long time and having 10k + posts, will rep power increase w/the more positive rep points you get as well? if so, how many positive rep points (green markers, or check marks depending on which theme you are using) are needed to increase your rep power?
