Pages Slow to Load

Since the upgrade, I'm finding that pages are taking longer to load. Actually, to be more accurate, it's the posts on the page that load slower. I can actually get to a page pretty quickly where it shows the ADs and the top bar info.

But, it's taking 15-20 seconds sometimes for the posts to show up on that page.

I'm using IE 7. And, this is happening in both XP and Vista RC1.

I have the same problem. It does this with internet explorer 6.0.

I don't get this problem with Firefox.

Pages load fast in IE, but I get the same thing as dsd and Tril. Doesn't bother me though since I use Firefox.

Here's something I find quite interesting though. In Firefox the layout of the forum pages are exactly how they are supposed to be. However, in IE the posters side bar is ontop of the post, not beside it. Take a look:

Firefox 1.5.0.6:

IE6:

I hate the IE6 layout. You should see it when posters that have a large avatar, like Zardon does, that it just fills up the whole top part of the screen. Take a look:

And yeah, some of the pages load slowly for me too...Text selection problem in IE there too...

The problem is it's loading the entire post table before displaying, normally you'll see the first post, meanwhile the rest that aren't in view, the issue is that IE7 is waiting until it has downloaded all the posts and then shows them. IE7 is doing this i'm aware of, cairo you say you're using IE6? I've not experienced this with IE6 but it's maybe the tables useds in the Distorted theme.

You can set the number of posts to display to a small number, which will help if you're using a beta browser. Until I can find out way, but so many things change and break with the IE7 beta/rc, that if it's not a quick fix, we might have to wait and see what the final thinks of the tables, I'll grab Bill on msn, and have him take a look.

You're are not logging in, while using Internet Explorer. The option to have either one is in your profile, but the default is now the modern vB3 style. But if you log in, it will take the option from your profile.

I'll be damned... again (for the millionth time). That is wierd. I remember trying this at work while being logged in using IE, and it did the same thing, and now Firefox is doing that too when not logged in. Too wierd.

Oh well. My mistake. Thanks for correcting my mistake on that, Craig.
