131? Wow how many times did you sign up? I got two... And it's not the end of the world you know, calm down.

If you had to clse an email account over this, well get a new provider, 130 emails is nothing.

LOL!
Shit happens mates. It's perfectly understandable if DH's e-mail server is using a Microsoft OS... I got 4 mails. So no harm done. I get more spam messages daily so Me Cares Not! I hope you'll get your hardware up and running again

To all flamers: LOL, retards!

Not sure what authorities could possibly do, Z's most likely, i would have assumed, taken every possible consideration into trying to fix the problem, he's made that quite clear several times. He's trying to clean up the mess. Now if he wasn't, just ignored it, let it keep happening, that a completely different story, but have to say this is the first time i've ever received an email from DH/ATI, and the thing is, i agreed to it when i enter the compitition.

Shit happens, it would appear as though those that had enter the competition once, only receive anywhere from 1 or 2 emails, perhaps 3-4 tops. Anyone entering multiple times, well i would assume probably got that much more probably.

And saying someone is greedy when they've provided a competition to freely give out prizes, and that someone enters the contest a dozen + times..... i'm not sure if i should call that ironic, hypocrtical, or outright uncalled/rude in so many different ways.

It's ok, I understand people are annoyed. They have every right to be. This is a thread to call me whatever you want and to state how annoyed with this you are. It is at the end of the day my responsibility so im the man you come to when you are annoyed. I hold my hand up and accept the error. If you want to make an offical complaint then email jamesd@driverheaven.net he is our main PR guy and is very concerned with the issues today. We will be looking at every email individually.

All I can say is sorry guys, if I could turn back time I would, but unfortunately that is beyond my control. I will do everything I can do ensure it doesn't happen again.

Thanks for sticking around, even with this crap today.

I got 3 so no biggie as far as I'm concerned. Especially when DH has apologized and explained everything. No need to get bent out of shape imo.

Eh, I got a couple of the emails. At first I was like, "Neat... since when do I get ads though?" and then I looked at it and thought it was a pretty cool graphic and left it at that. XD; Haha.

But anyway, getting more than one I was like, "..." and yeah, it kind of got filtered into my junk email box (Which I look at every now and again, to see if I'm popular outside of my circle. >> lol) sooo... no inconvenience, just a surprise!

And even if, I've been registered to this site for what feels like forever as my homepage, so... getting one ad over like, many years is alright with me! If anything, this site has been the most predictably amazing site I've ever been to.

I understand whats going on now. I get why I got so many. that makes sense.

Thanks for owning up about it though Allan. It really is not your responsibility but its nice to see someone is taking responsibility for it. And at the end of the day, its not all that bad. I mean yea it sucks and I was a tad unhappy about it, but I Was more afraid that I had gotten my emails farmed or had huge spam coming in. now that I know this is not the case, everything is gravy.

I find it interesting that the two who are bitching the loudest the loudest have post counts of 1 and 2. SO, you two guys just entered contests, and have never made any other contribution to this site, and your panties are all in a wad because the server had a problem. I guess both of you LEECHES are absolutely perfect in everyway.

If you can't accept the fact that it was a glitch, and take Zardons apology, then I invite you to explore the joys of single-participant reproduction.

now now...this thread is here to let people vent. Lets let em vent. People didnt expect this to happen from Driverheaven. besides just because someone has a post of 1 or 2 doesnt mean they havent held driverheaven near and dear for quite some time. I remember when the site was started, but I didnt become a member until a few years later. I just lurked before then.

So god damn true!

And to you geraldmango, I bet you wouldn't be some negative if you have won in one of the competitions, but I guess it's easiest being a freeloader.

Having won a vid card here, I am certainly not going to complain about a fairly inoculous advertisement going to my public email. I never got one at my other addresses, but I never entered them either. Relax guys is only junk mail and less insulting about my hardness than most.

I got about 8 or so, I opened one, read it, deleted the rest. No big F'ing deal! Who cares?
If I got 6000 I might be a little P-O'd, but then again, I didn't enter the contest 6000 times or whatever.. Ahh, what goes around comes around I guess.

Not really bothered about it to be honest, but I did get at least 7 copies of the same e-mail to one account and 2 to another... I only believe I registered on the competition with one of the e-mail addresses.

I found it interesting to see DH e-mailing the ad out for ATI, when their own review stated that "...we simply cannot recommend this hardware"!

I only got one, I must admit I did think it was from ATI rather than DH but really isnt a big issue... if it was happening evey week, maybe, but this is the first one so as long as they are relatively infrequent I am not concerned at all.

Strange thing is I would trust DH more than any other site to maintain my privacy, I am sure my email address is many worse places...

I think that it is sending out as many e-mails to members as the number of times they entered the contest. Like one of the pissed-off people above stated (the guy with 2 posts) he entered the contest about 6,000 times. He has received almost 6,000 e-mails. Frankly I think its justice for spamming a contest like he did.

The other guy (Mr 1 post angry guy) got 131 e-mails. I would like to bet he tried to stack the contest by entering 131 or so times.

I got 3. Guess I tried to stack the contest too. My humble apologies. Next time I will only enter once. I don't mind getting the e-mail, especially when I was trying to get something for nothing in the first place.

Lesson learned... don't try to stack the odds in your favour in a contest.

Still happy after all these years

That's not exactly true, I received more than one email and only entered the contest once.

So, those guys *may* have just been in a bad situation, or a lot of "innocent" people got nailed for no reason.

I have no reason to complain, just thought I'd add something to the theory.

Well im not sure you are adding anything to be honest mate, I already explained the server got stuck in a loop sending out the emails, so yes many people did receive multiple emails, at no fault of their own.

Anyway I think this thread is about done now, we have been dealing with complaints and comments on a one on one basis in email now since last friday, so I think everything has been dealt with.

Thanks to everyone for being so understanding, hopefully in future we won't be left with this unpleasant situation again.

Cheers !
