Big Grin DriverHeaven magazine

I have been reading MaximumPC magazine for some time, I am sure most folks are familiar with it, I enjoy the articles and the occasionaly scantily clad model they put into the articles. But it has limitations right, wouldn't be awesome if DH could produce an online magazine or a printed one as well. I still enjoy Maximum PC, but they can be tiresome. DH is more interesting in so many respects, it would be cool if consumers could get it in their mailbox....I suippose I will catch hell from people that want a paperless world ha ha...I am sure it wouldn't chop down too many trees....whaddaya think?

Its an interesting idea Jeff, but unfortunately and this is something maybe alot of people dont know, Driverheaven doesnt pay any of my bills and is in fact a hobby. im already spending 90% of my free time organising and running this site with the help of the admins.

For now im afraid I dont have resources to expand the site in that direction, nice idea though

how about advertising in MaximumPC?

I know this another money question, but I know lots of handicapped people that have access to computers and indulge in DH, I let them use my computer when I am in the lab at the clinic while they wait for prosthetics to be adjusted, they don't post but they read the forums anyway, I know this may be another broken rule, but they really enjoy it. I want to get wireless computers built into the big battery powered wheelchairs but as small as a PDA, Stephen Hawkings has one, and it is expensive. I cant get anyone interested because insurance pays for everything but the adapter and socket for the PDA and most would rather use text messaging anyway...
My idea was to get them access to the web while they are in their chairs at the clinic and hospital or in the waiting rooms since they spend an inordinate time there anyway, most of the lucid patients build and do tech stuff, and they love Maximum PC, I help them in a neanderthal way (ha ha) duct tape their wireless computers to their wheelchairs, but I caught hell for it. sheesh.....They love DH, but many have CP and can't type, so I would like to ask questions for them but I think if they can't type they shouldn't be using the forums for the most part.
I DH magazine would have been a huge hit I am sure, I would have bought one....sigh.

yeah its a good idea, and maybe if the site keeps expanding over the coming year we can branch out in other directions. I just know from business and real life, that if you put your eggs into too many baskets at the one time, the quality will suffer. I like to do things right and professional and ATM im putting all my time into making Driverheaven a quality forum with alot of good helpful staff internally and from companies with a nice interface and alot of information. I have a few ideas on the backburner atm, will take time to evolve them.

Your job incidentally must be very fulfilling. Nice to hear you take such an interest in making the patients lives better.

thankyou sir

I really do enjoy it a great deal, you have a quality product for sure, but I prefer to think of it as a painting or something you can transform like clay until becomes more like what you want it to be, I was frustrated with the clinic, because they trashed my idea, they wouldn't even look at your website either. I suppose I was angry about that and I apologize if it came out in the forums recently, but I haven't given up. I may lose a patient the glassy eyed indifference of their families and primary care providers, but when they come into my clinic I want to help them get an atitude alignment by exposing them to the real world, and DH is the real world in so many respects, even though it is virtual.....cool huh...
I would like to see them immerse themselves seamlessly and leave the chairs and walkers and interact with the virtual enviornment. In DH, they can do that, they can see it in print and image, and they laugh their butts off at some of the characters and their aliases, ha ha.....
I suppose my magazine idea was an attempt to see if I could bridge the gap somehow in the future since I am not getting my subscription copies of MaximumPC and CPU magazines back, ha ha....
Computers and forums like this will no doubt allow people that I take care of, leave the horizontal plane and find rewarding expereinces in technology and discussion and debate and just fooling around like people without disabilities...
DH meets most of those expectations already, at least for the geeks among them, many are brilliant and really get good information from this website. I cut and paste all the time. but I have been accused of meddling. Handicapped people I am told should accept their fate or illness or conditon as that maybe..
Our lives are finite...and I would rather be known for what I gave in my short lifespan rather than what I took from life...
Your forums and your websites brings challenged people into the real world...for that I say thankyou...
and so do they........

Good ideas !!

Hey Fallang_Jeff some really cool ideas.
And some very strong input delivered in an efficient and non offensive manner.
I like it. Thank you

Kind of reminds me of a Jeff I speak to quite regularly in RL.

But keep in mind as Zardon said.....
Oh to Hell with that this site exists because of a lot of hard work and sacrifice.
And from your job description I'm sure you understand both of these topics very well !!
You care !!!

So does Zardon. Hey man he's not going to become a millionare on our donations.
As a matter of fact as I was informed some time ago by a member I won't name here.
That Zardon usually dips into his own pocket to keep this site running.

This is the reason I decided to become a donating member.
It's not expected (you have an avatar without a donation)
But does help Zardon keep the ball rolling

Were all friends here.
All off us whether we be staff, mods or newbies.

And I wish to see us here this time next year

Glad ya liked the poem BRO, was written for you guys !!

On donation:
Like I said its not expected. Zardon created this site as a hobby I think.
And it became this Driverheaven.net.

I have donated very little as far as I'm concerned. And I was never asked to do so. Or post a link for donation in my SIG. I was never approached on that subject.

On my first donation I asked some advise and ToshiroOC informed me anything over the 30 cent PayPal minimum would be welcome and appriciated.
Every little bit helps. Those who can't Zardon holds no ill will.

For this site is FREE as it always has been !!!

But some of us wish to help. Even if in a small way

Anyway BRO back to the subject . Nice to see you and Zardon discussing things

Before you pass judgement on any member get to REALLY know them first !!!!
I made that mistake with Wyre, but all is good now!!!

Unless I shoot him on MOHAA again LOL
