Fouisgras is on a distinguished road

Locked Forums

Instead of locking forums, just to have opened subforums within them, why don't you just edit usergroups to not be able to post in that parent forum. That way you can have general stickies and such in the parent forum, but not allow regular users to post there.

I, for one, always look at the little icon next to each forum, and the lock is quite misleading. I didnt figure out until like a second ago that there were opened subforums.

Is it a minor change? Yeh.
But is it a quick 2 second permission change? Yep!

System Specs

That is how the permissions are already set, the forum isn't locked, registered users are denied permission to post in the original forum, and thus you get a lock icon either way.

If I'm misunderstanding your suggestion please let me know. But the ATI and nVidia driver forums are open and active forums, and the registered user group is then customised so that they can't create threads.

Thanks

Craig
