New Site Feedback, Discussion, Problem Reports

Shortly you will see some major changes to the portal area of Driver Heaven, and over the coming weeks review content etc.

Please discuss in this thread and only this thread the changes.

The forum changes are quite minor, the system specs have been moved into a popup menu under a members avatar and more options are now available in your user profile.

Thanks for your patience, we hope you enjoy the changes, but feel free to voice your opinions.

If everyone could please log out, clear their cookies and cache, and relog in. Thanks.

Eh, I was surprised... what a change, lol. Been a part of this site for so long, and when my homepage didn't show up, reporting a 404 error, I thought the changes were morally reprehensible. lol

But anyway, it'll take some getting used to. It looks really neat. Really flashy and colourful, seemed to load faster right off the bat...

God, the amount of hours I've spent idling on this site. lol

Edit: I also had to expand my IE to take up more of my desktop such that I can see everything in one go. Haha, now it kind of invades my other windows I have going! I'm beginning to like it more and more every time i open it, however.

In main page the Tech news and Game News box is over the reviews box. And the competion add is over the reviews box. And I'm using FF2

Not from where im sitting... (ie7).

Besides that the front page looks very sweet

Very impressed so far,apart from it's defiantly going to take a little adjusting to the News/Gaming News style now it's gone live.

Some really nice changes guys, i like them! Though I have to say that after 5+ years of blueheaven, I will require some getting used to this. Still very nice and I appreciate the hard work.

I don't like the menu for system specs. Being able to move your eyes quickly over to the left and see what the member has while reading large threads was more convenient. Now you have to constantly click to see a quick detail.

yeah a lot of hard work Craig, awesome job man I love the colours and look. A few things look broken right now and I still see some old site layouts which i guess you will update?

I like the system spec thing as it doesnt hog a lot of screen space, but it wont work in the latest opera beta. have to use IE to get it to work right

I like the theme, much better than the other blue thing which was boring.

Front page also confuses me right now, so many panels. was easier before to see non-site related news without having to click tabs.

Really? its on the right in the panel marked technology news, makes more sense to me, and if you click the gaming tab in the same panel you get gaming news, works great !

All the tabs make life so much easier front page. I LOVE IT ! I notice a few bugs but im sure they are being looked into as its such a huge change.

Like the new forums too, for DH news and ordinary tech news, will make the RSS feeding much more accurate now.

I can see the changes, i really like the new skin it looks great

portal looks fantastic as well, great job

just a suggestion though, can we get a lighter version of this skin? I think reading reviews will hurt my eyes with this colour scheme, i'll give it a go though and see how it goes

The New front page is Gorgeous! The new layout and default skin are both classy and distinctive with just enough "edge" - fits the site very well I think. Let you know about "trifles" as I encounter them...

Did you try SereneHeaven? Check out the skin selector in the top right corner of the page.

Looking good, it'll take a bit of getting used too but i'm willing to give it a try. I too would like a lighter theme, don't really dig all this black, may suit teenage girls with nose studs but I like my lightblue skyheaven.

oh and is that insert image icon in the quick reply a naughty blonde girlie : )

No idea what that supplierheaven thing is all about, other than featuring a DH poll it doesnt fit in with anything theme-wise. If it's existed since 2002 then I must be blind. Anyone care to tell me what it is???

Agreed that looks a bit better although the background looks like the magnolia paint in my school cloakroom all those 100's of years ago.

Also just a suggestion really. On the main page everything feels squished into a 10-12 inch strip down the middle of my monitor with at least double the space running spare either side. Sorts its self out when viewing forums but it seems like a huge bland grey waste of landscape otherwise. Any plans for artwork or something to cheer it up a bit?

Using the quick skin selector from the front page gives me a "page not found" error. It works from everywhere else though.

i don't know if someone has the same problem or if this has been set deliberately.

When im on Tech front page and i press F5 for a refresh it switchs to the Gamingheaven front page.

It don't happen in the reverse.

EDIT Nevermind.. clearinng out the cookies sorted it.

With Firefox by the way. These are the 2 pages it redirects me to:

its a supplier site for industry purchasing. just another site in our network, not directly related to Driver Heaven.

Yeah I thought that was in there, ill make sure someone looks into it.

I would like to say guys without making any excuses that we are "still" working on this site. We wanted to get the move done because basically we have so much content now that the old site really didn't accommodate it.

I know and feel your pain, those of you who are used to the old site, I am myself and I know people really don't always like dramatic change, but the front page is now much more dynamic and will allow us to present a lot more information to you all in the same space.

Granted I know not everyone will immediately love it and praise it, but all I can ask is to give it some time.

We still have a lot of work as I said, and we are moving the reviews shortly over to the new database system as well as a bunch of other little bug fixes.

Keep reporting them however in case we have missed some of them, we have a bug list about 3 pages long right now, however the main functionality is working.

Once again, bear with us and please try and give it a chance if you could, hopefully once we tidy a few bits n pieces up it will all make more sense to you.

We have however kept the forums basically the same as before as you can see, with seperate sections for news etc, in the aid to help you surf whatever you need in an easier fashion.
