a couple of questions...

i was reading through some of the forum rules about signatures and stuff, and i saw/remember that 10k members get a 100x100 @ 30k avatar (larger avatars have been allowed on a one-by-one basis), but what about an avatar of 150x150 @ like 75k in size for those (few) members of 20k or more post count?

another questions is, when is the Gold member recognition coming back? it seems to have been gone for quite some time now. over a year i think. i'd like to see that back.

I personally think that would be too large for a forum, if there's a bigger image you want that's what signatures are for.

As for gold members, the provision is still there to put it back in place, but it isn't on the cards just yet, but that may change.

The issue with gold membership is that many people who got it decided that a change of personality was in order and the position was in many way abused. I have been over it before and although I wanted to reward people for their contribution it backfired and bit me on the ass. Craig and myself might chat about it again this year but for the time being its not planned to be reinstated. If it is reinstated at some time I doubt more than 10 people would end up with it which then annoys the people who feel they should have it, but don't get it.

Just take a big virtual kiss instead CD, best I can offer right now.

That is a good point and I am humble enough to admit I was one of them. Things change and we move on in life and I am quite happy right here as I am hanging out and posting. We once saw DH turn into a giant soap opera and I don't want to see this again and have no intentions at becoming involved if one does. I made my peace here and am looking forward not behind.

On the suggestions posted by CD's good ones to mention but I am quite happy to let you and Craig decide on this for everyone.

Up the default size to 100x100 for the sake of simplicity and conformity. Too many variations makes for a bit of a visual mess.

Hello All-

I realize that I'm new here- and I enjoy reading this forum - but something is bothering me and I must point it out.

After logging in and choosing a topic an Ad popped up advising me how to use a condomn.
Today another Ad came up telling about VD.

Both times my kids were passing thru the room and it more than a little embarrasing.

I realize that advertisers help to pay the bills, but come on... are these really necessary?

All I ever see on DH are computer related adds, I don't know why you would be seeing anything different. Hopefully one of the mods will see this and sort it out for you.

DH has for a good 2 years i beleive, made it clear that DH would not allow for POP-UPS ever again.... there was a point in time where a pop-up/under was occuring in order to pay for the sites massive bandwidth due to the little donations (still quite a few donations) to cover the cost of it.

Zardon of course could clear this up in a hurry as obviously i'm no official at all on this site.

If your receiving a popup, I highly advise you contact Craig (One of the main administrators of this website) via PM and give him as much details about your location and IP perhaps. But as others and i will have said, you shouldn't be getting anything. If you are, it's usually due to an unfortunate case of being infected with some form of ad-ware/ad pop program of some sort on your computer.

I probably misspoke when I called it a Pop-up.
It is an Ad in the window right in the thread.
And I don't disapprove of there being Ads- just those ads (sexually related) with volume so high it gets everyones attention.

Ok so it's no a popup .... but actually part of the ads that are showing up...

PM craig.... obviously something is getting through for your area and craig will have to give the advertising company responcible (or team) the gears

This is a similare case as some were getting relatively odd ads showing up nearly half a year ago i beleive in the same sort of situation....

If you're familiar with taking screenshots try and grab a screenshot of the offending advert and send it to me craig5320@driverheaven.net , we don't host those sorts of adverts on our ad network, but we do have one or two external ad providers for the US market.

Also I would scan for adware/spyware on your computer because a lot of times these programs replace the banners on websites with their own.

nope, it's true. here are my screenshots of the two AIDS ads currently presented to the DH community (at least this region if it's a by region thing). and it's not a spyware/malware thing as it happens on my work computer as well. that one is squeaky clean due to the filters at work do not prevent us to go anywhere really.

the first one is just about a guy and how many women he's slept with. then the women say how many people they've slept with, and then those people say how many they've slept with, etc.

the second one is a cartoon of a penis holding a condom and explaining how a condom is used. it's rather graphic though.

oh, and both ads have sound if you roll your mouse cursor over them.

Aw man that tickled me something chronic

Gold membership is a good recognition of achievement but like Z said it usually called for people to split their personalities which was out of line.
What if it was reinstated but the members were watched a lot more closely? And if they had to contribute often rather than just sort of a bunch of seperate contributions?

Ok guys, Apologies for those that have seen the ad's in question. They are not intended for our audience and should never have entered rotation. Our US Ad provider is at fault, but it seems they were quite localised.
