Default Post If you guys are Driver Heaven...

If you guys are driver heaven why only video, audio, laptop and linux???

Wheres the controller cards (SCSI & IDE), Monitor, Motherboard (4-in-1's, Nforce & Etc..), Keyboards, Mice and NIC's????

I was let down that its only a forums site. I was expecting something more like what winfiles.com used to be before CNet ruined them.

I wouldn't call this driver heaven. A little misleading!

all those go into the hardware section, if we had a forum for every single piece of equipment the page would scroll about 20 times. you seriously want a dedicated forum for Mice drivers? ! I have listened to people and added to the forum as we expand.

if you dont like it well im sorry, but really I dont think this post is very constructive at all.

We have ATI, Nvidia, Linux, matrox, audio, laptop, and nearly every other driver format you could care for. along with first hand leaks of drivers and Oses. if you dont think thats heaven well thats ok lol !

hope you find a forum you like. cya.

Actually we take all kinds of drivers here.......driver leaks usually go in the forum for the hardware they are for ie ATI, nVidia, Matrox,Audio etc... now any misc drivers or software go in the News or Hardware forums btw we do have news about the 4-in-1s, nForce and such.....there hasnt been much news on the keyboard front........for the most part a keyboard is a keyboard but if we see sumthing that catches our eye we list it

This website has actually expanded from what it was to begin with

DriverHeaven.net was born as a help forum to help out users of Omega and Cyborgs ATi/nVidia driver sets and has then since exploded..........we had 46 million hits on us last month......1.5 Million hits and 10GB of data transferred in a 24 hour period over the 1068 boom as well as tripling our members....which has meant upgrading to a new fully dedicated server package......if it wasnt heaven we wouldnt require the upgrades

Unfortunaly Skeep it is not possible to please everyone.

But personally, I find talking about Network Cards, Keyboards, Mice keyboards to be boring. However I think there should be a catagory for Motherboards and related hardware.

What do u think Zardon?

Ah, but have you went to the General Hardware section yet and posted the hardware you're looking for drivers for? Give it a try and see what ya get before you cast judgement on the appropriateness of our title.

And next time, just politely ask for a forum, instead of saying "I wouldn't call this driver heaven. A little misleading!"

Alright?

Well, while I can agree with it being nice to have those drivers as well, most of those don't leak that often. Monitors? Rarely is a monitor driver released. Motherboards I understand - and asking for a forum is far more polite than your more polite form of "You guys suck".

But let me dissuade you - this isn't simply a forums site. These forums contain links to the latest drivers out there for many, many things, including the elusive voodoo drivers for the v5/5500, which while still a good card no longer has a momma. And because these forums have people who have the same hardware as what you're looking for drivers for, when they ARE available, these people can also tell you if the drivers are GREAT or CRAP, any GOTCHAS to be aware of, and help you when YOU SCREW UP and can't FIX IT.

But fella, come in here with attitude and nobody's going to help you do JACK.

So - next time you want to criticize, instead of just blathering about what's wrong in your (not so) humble opinion, why not try making suggestions for improvement?

I've found the forums on here to be an invaluable resource already - and were the powers that be that control fate more kind, I'd be whipping out my wallet in a hurry.

So to the owners and moderators who've worked so hard on this place, especially during things like Windows SP beta release frenzies go kudos. Keep up the hard work.

To the detractors who feel it necessary to act like shmucks - allow me to point out that little X in the upper right corner. Click it.

I find it funny that he wanted a forum for NIC's. I have coded a driver for a 3COM NIC, and it was like 100 lines of code. There is no possible way you could need driver updates for a NIC. All the tough stuff is done by the OS itself.(I have also written an OS kernal and protocol stack, and that was a BIT more tedious).

To answer your question. Yes and no. It was something I did in conjunction with my CS study. But to study CS where I do it has to be a hobby aswell

We were 3 people actually and the kernel took about 35 days of 12-14 hours a day, every day. The protocol stack took a few days longer. It was alot of fun but too much work hehe the deadline was retarded.

Both kernel and protocol stack was simpler than todays stuff, but still not overly simple. For example was our kernel multiprogrammed(IE suppoted multitasking), and was a mode seperated kenel(Kenel mode and user mode. This insures that the user doesnt have direct access to kernel resources). Both things that MS DOS didnt support.
