Front page poll

Just to let you know we're now showing 10ths of a percentage so it adds upto 100% as someone pointed out a few rounding errors.

I've also made the font slightly smaller.

Any problems, please post here - except Dyre's constant cookie/always voting problem

UPDATE : Back to integers for the poll as I found a rather natty way of ensuring it adds upto 100

making the font's a % size rather than fixed size would be a lot better. Then I can use the Large and Larger font sizes if I want to be able to read it on my Laptop with no eye strain (and i've got perfect vision). why fix the font size?

I never use fixed size fonts - everything related to the Poll script uses a percentile size so Larger and Smaller work.

hum... they are not working here (winxp, ie6). will test on the laptop later though.

OK - varying font size is not working under IE 6. Works fine under Opera and Mozilla though

And before anyone shouts "fix it" this is an IE bug/feature. Many sites including news.bbc.co.uk force fixed size which causes IE not to adjust the font size. However, Opera and Mozilla work.

anyway, any chance of a different poll?

or are they once a month.
Anyways, it looks fine on this computer, but cannot test what it looks like when voting.

P.S. and the BBC certainly wouldn't win any design awards with their site, it a jungle of a mess to navigate.

After hunting around, I've found an algorythmn that goes through the percentages and ensures that the total is always 100 for integers. I've removed the decimal places now.

Also, about the new Poll....is this for ALL device drivers, video card drivers, or what? The question seems a bit ambiguous.

It not difficult, If it doesn't specify it means all.
So to me it's how often do you look/check for new drivers for you system.
Mind another good one to put ther would be 'Wait for DriverHeaven to tell me there is one

Hopefully we will now. I've made a very small change to the was the poll loads and saves cookies. I'm now relying that no other admin uses the poll's cookie name (hard since it's prefixed iwht uberPoll) anywhere else on DH.

I guess if the poll is asking about ALL devices, then I really can't answer the question with the options given.

I have so many devices beyond video and sound that I take the approach: If it's not broke, don't fix it.

When you consider that there are drivers for NIC cards, scanners, digital cameras, monitors, modems, printers, and so much more, unless something is giving me trouble, I don't go looking for newer drivers.

The only ones I do check regularly are the ones for video and sound. But, even with the sound card (SB Live MP+), my card is considered a Legacy card now, but it's working quite well on drivers dated 7/24/2002.

So, maybe I'd be answering the Poll: As Needed.

Meaning, for the device you check for most often, how often is that
