Are the driver downloads still taking a big hit? This is the only site I've been browsing that's taking 'forever' to load pages.

Or is something else going on?

The driver downloads and this server ARENT connected. they are different servers.

This site is slower than normal due to massive hits here and on omegacorner (Same site), we also had to block some more attacking ips, but its not that bad here atm, taking about 5-7 secs a page.

I'm having the same problem, forums are slower than normal but the index page take about a minute in my adsl 512k connection..

I know you've mentioned over and over again about the drivers being hosted elsewhere. It just hasn't 'sunk in' like it should have. I'll try to remember that.

That seems to be the case now, yes. It was pretty slow all over when I posted. Replies to posts were taking a while to complete.

I use the Front Page mainly to keep up with the latest posts in the forums. I like that feature. Of course, I check for the latest News posts, too.

it could also be a tower ad problem on the front page. unfortunately its a sunday and our ad company wont be available until tomorrow. so many possible variables

and www.numion.com may give some more useful things for you (and for DH to monitor speed as well)
Ranging from 10sec (after a few goes) to over 20secs here (600K connection but only half available to download the site)

Hope this helps both side get some real stats.
Either way, the only way to get around it is to reduce the amount of data. Maybe cutdown on the News on the front page as it pulling it all from the backend Forum database I assume.

its gone bad for me.front page is quick.posts are like 20 -30 seconds if lucky.3 times now tried one post and can't find server page comes up.

[edit] this one were almost instant 2-3 seconds and were done.

clear your cache and flush DNS. its not that slow unless its a routing issue whereever you guys are.

I just did yesterday- Sometimes the pages pop right up though- at least enough to read or post, but the page is still loading pictures and things. That's where the extra seconds usually comes in to the picture. But sometimes it waits before it loads up enough to read or post..

I really don't know enough about how things work to make a judgment as to why it happens like this. But my ping to the server is 14 hops (after my default gateway) at about 60ms. And most other sites load right up quick - some instant, but of coarse not all of them.

BWX232, it's the Adverts that cause it to be slow (or in the forum the Sigs) They are taken from external servers so not actually DH's fault.
The 'text' should be sorted out first so you can get on with thing's while pictures load in the background. Not a problem on the main page, but in the fourum it's slightly annoying as the screen resizes etc..

But then there are solutions, just turn of sigs, job done.
And you cannot blame DH for the Ad's they need some money to keep this place running :-) You should point your problems out the the Add people.

On the front page, the background, and title area are quick, there is a noticable delay as the News is collected then displayed. Then more of a delay as Adverts are collected, BUT you can start reading by then. If DH could make the News collection quicker you wouldn't notice and hopefully get page loading down to <5secs (to read time) backgorund tasks could then happen (advert's etc..)

kick.... it takes 3 seconds to load front page.... and 1-2 seconds to load most everything else..... I just tried a 100 post forum (russian roulet as it has more there then 3 word story)..... 2.517seconds..... so...it's speedy...and it's the always like this usually....

For me ADS aren't a problem. Cos I use the HOSTS file which pretty much bannes all the ADs on the site.Well if anybody wants it heres an address:
