Front Page S-L-O-W

Just started about 10 minutes ago. The Front Page nearly refuses to load for me.

And, even when I do get on a page, the blue 'loading' bar at the bottom is taking a LONG time to complete. That's related to the ADs for sure.

EDIT: I just cleared my Browser Cache. Seems a bit better now.

id spoken to you in Pm about this, unfortunately im in work atm on Macintosh mozilla so its hard to judge as such from an IE perspective.

I have noticed it loading alot slower in the last 5 minutes and it is an ad related problem. it might sort itself out shortly.

Yes, since Uber wasn't showing as online right now, I figured I'd post a note about it here.

After clearing my browser cache, it does seem to be much improved.

No ads are loading on my end here and the front page is super slow

Check the site with pcpitstop and everything fine there with trace route. Found the site right away.

It's still SLOW here, on Firebird and IE even after cleaning the cache.

It's hanging up waiting for something from falkag.net...They provide your ads right?

Not to get into a bitchfest about ads, but I think its pretty crappy when a site won't load right cause the ads are messed up.

ideally id love to do that, but thats impossible, as ive stated this site costs quite a bit to run and maintain, if I took the ads off, then there wouldnt be a DH. I guess then you all wouldnt have to worry about ads

peter its probably a temporary problem, the servers the ads are on are for many a site such as rage3d and others and the loads on these servers sometimes are high therefore they load slow or there could be a problem with the ad company network.

removing ads isnt an option. if its still causing issues later then ill get in touch with them.

I'm not complaining about the ads per se, I know you gotta pay the bills somehow...I just think the site should load regardless of the adserver's status. Let it load with little empty boxes where the ads would be if the server is taking a dump.

But if it is messing with the load times, I would sent a shout out to the ad company and see what is wrong. But you are right about paying the bills and if clears up here in a bit why bother. I will just have to change my default favorite to go to the forums first then front page later. Later pete

Zardon, I use nortan firewall, it has a built in add blocker.... I also have have issues with the front page loading...

It gets this far ....

then it hangs for very long time then the page loads like normal...

just hold tight, and bookmark the forum until its resolved. it will hopefully sort itself out in a few hours.

Use opera, somethings probably messing up IE. I'm having no speed problems whatsoever.

then its probably intellitxt again as it only works on IE.

Mozilla Firebird hung for me earlier...Just tried Opera now and it's the same way, very slow. But it actually did load the whole front page, something neither IE or Firebird did before I gave up.

Yeah, this morning it's snowing here and the phone lines are a bit, well, whatever they are. Connected at 16.8kbps and I thought it was me - as usual from home. I get up and go to the kitchen - pour a cup of coffee - add sugar - stir - come back - wait a minute - there it is finally (Said in your head as if you'd just gotten up in the morning after only 3 hours sleep).

The forums load quickly and are responsive - replies are too! (Said quickly in your head - you get the idea).

VERY slow here.

It's the Ads that are causing it.

It pauses (on the main page) waiting for the top ad to load and doesn't.
In the forums you seem to build the page differently, so the forum can be used but it takes ages (say after reading 2 or 3 threads) for an add to appear (top & bottom ones), but this doesn't effect browsing the forum.

Hoping the add people get their servers sorted (unless it the ad.php part)

Same ad problem here...top ad doesnt load and so the front page doesnt (other than the menu and the header).

.....actually, i looked into the loading of the front page.... for me... it says DONE..... rather odd.... i know this issue will be sorted out soon..... so i have no worries..... just rather strange....

It is ads giving the problems guys, no need to keep reporting the same problem, im already aware of it, and if the ad company are reading their emails from 10 sites so will they be

Not really trying to keep the discussion going, but, yes, like Judas says, all other pages beyond the Front Page are loading up whether the ADs do or don't. Only the Front Page seems to be held up if the ADs don't load.

just adding the same problem for me to. it stays for around 3 mins. as shown by image.and thats as far as it goes.no can't find page errors or any others.but the odd things are forums tags,profile tags are working etc are almost instant.

its only the front page has been like this now for at least the past 3hrs or so.
