WTF is with the speed on this site?
I visit here about 7 times a week sometimes more. But nearly half the time I come the pages seem to take an eternity to load. I mean, when I'm at EOCF it's instant. Here at DH it creeps. Just right now it took about 3 mintues to load the OFF TOPIC forum after I clicked on it. I understand occassionaly being slow, but this site is slow nearly everytime I come here.
FYI: Usually no P2P programs running and other sites run fine. Just this one drags.........

It's hard for me to believe it's me. I mean, anything else I view runs faster than this site. Hell, even a Japanese site I was looking at earlier was faster. Well, whatever.

Also, might I add that when I started this thread the site was ridicously slow for me. Now that I am here now it's much quicker. Still slower than many of the other forums though.

Maybe you have something going on with some optimizer or something. Most likely it has to do with a router between you and this site. I am on dial up and this site is one of the fastest to load.

nothing wrong with the site right now, obviously on your end Drive euro. do we really need a thread for everytime someone is finding the site slow, its general procedure to check your own machine or ping the server to see routing or ISP issues - problems DONT just occur server side . Incidentally the server has been fine for days barely loaded.

I find this to be true for me to, most of the time! Im in Las Vegas with a 3 meg cable modem, all sites zoom and this one hangs up some times. just like now when posting it took like 8 seconds to load. And when coming in to the DH site sometimes it takes 10 to 15 seconds to load. This isn't all the time but probly 60 to 70% of the time. Must be something with USA to UK routers or something.

nothing can be done, server is fine, pipe is fine, everything is fine, except routing or an ISP or gremlins between some pcs and DH. im in ireland quite a distance away. most pages load in 2 seconds. ive an ass kicking ISP though

I was having similar problems with DH a couple of months back. I also couldn't view certain users sigs or hosted images. I contacted my ISP who sorted it out in less than a week - it was a routing problem and their servers couldn't see the DH server properly for some reason.
Contact your ISP if you find everyone else on here isn't having a problem and you know your PC is ok - it can quite often be a fault with them. |

Well it helps to clear your temp files and cookies and what not every now and then. You may have some bad temp internet files or something. Try that. It isn't the site, if i can load it up quite quickly, then I know anyone else can.

For me it is not the speed of the pages, per se, but waiting for the ads to load that gums up the works. Everything else can be loaded and I will have to wait another 5-10 seconds for a banner to finish loading.

I just starting using Netscape 7.1 and it loads so much faster for me on my end, I suggest others give it a try, see if it helps

Hmmm......there was a speed problem a few weeks back, but Z said they did some optimizations and it obvioulsy worked, because the site has been ZOOM ZOOM for me. I click my DH link and the page is up within a second or two. BAM! For me, it's faster than it's ever been before.

As stated, there are currently no speed problems with the site, as it is almost instantanious for most users.
There is no need to discuss a non-existant issue any further, DriveEuro, if you would like some help with your connection, or finding out where the snags are, please post in another appropriate forum. ![]() Thread Closed.
