Active-X Warning Popup
Since logging on to DH this morning, I've had at least 5 Windows Popup warnings telling me that my Active X Settings are such that it won't allow the page to display properly.
I'm sure there's an AD that is using ActiveX that's causing this. I've noticed this since installing the Beta 2055 version and setting the Popup Blocker to only allow popups on DH....if that matters. |

So far (knock on wood) this evening I'm not getting any warning. This morning I tried to get a screencapture of the warning window but it didn't 'take'. If it happens again, I'll try to catch an image of it.
EDIT: Spoke too soon. I'm working on an image of it now......

It just did it again as I was reading your post, Judas. AND, it seems to be happening almost exclusively with DH. AND, it just happened again while I was typing this reply. |

I wish I could figure out what's causing it. I went nearly all evening without it happening and now I've gotten it at least a dozen times in the last 45 minutes.

.....very very very strange....but it can't possibly be at this end as hundreds of us aren't have any problem of the sort... and as zardon said.... the ad companies said there wasn't going to be any....

i dont have the version of IE to test on. anyway, config IE -> Internet Options -> Security tab, under Download signed ActiveX controls to "Prompt", if you've already done that and no help, try checking with Win Updates site and see if you can get the site to scan your file for updates or you'll get the same error. (i like to know if you would get error elsewhere?? and if the issue continues to occur, you may want to try to reinstall the IE.

Here's what I've done so far:
I updated and ran Ad-Aware. Removed over 37 files, 3 Registry keys, and 1 Folder. (It said that the program in that folder was a Data Mining app. I remember something from a couple days ago and thought I had uninstalled it. Anyway, this Active X thing precedes that anyway.) I've also run EasyCleaner 2.0 and removed a couple of things it found in the Registry. Nothing was there other than items pointing to a recent Intel App update. Rebooted and came back to DH. Almost immediately I got another Active X warning as shown in the image I posted earlier. The Security settings are already set as panging suggests. EDIT: I've just applied a Beta 6 December update for XP Home. We'll see what happens now.

UPDATE:
Since applying the Beta 6 December patch, I have not seen another ActiveX popup warning. (I don't want to hold my breath yet, though.) |

its a beta browser. its not happening on any other browser. the company dont run active X, I cant reproduce it.........therefore it leads me to the conclusion its the browser at fault. its beta software its par for the course.

It's my understanding that a few others are using this same beta 6 for IE. I'll check for additional updates if anything else happens.

There was a brief period (right after I posted a news item) when I couldn't get onto DH at all! (The site had become extremely sluggish leading up to that and I 'think' the server may have been reset.) Anyway, during the time I couldn't get either the main nor the forums to come up, I DID get that ActiveX warning screen. But, since the site is back up and accessible, I haven't seen it.
