Catalyst, DNA, Omega article

I just finished reading the about the Catalyst vs. Omega vs. DNA drivers. What a joke! I wouldn't trust that article when making my decision on which drivers to use. Also, whats up with all the spyware crap on this website? I've never seen so many active x popups on one site before.

Correct me if I am wrong, but this forum is titled "Feedback" right? Is there a rule that it has to be positive? Get that stick out of your ass.

Active X popups.... non excistant on this website... popups.. however are for a reason... and it's guaranteed that no spyware related material will show up.... (word from the ad hosts themselves).... The latest couple of Beta browsers have shown some signs of active X errors and whatnot... i sugest you find a patch for it... if you have one of the beta browsers installed..... (Thanks for Dyre for finding this out) ..... What i don't understand is your comment... Usually anyone that has a problem with an article... will say why..... Specially when they go far enough to post a specific thread about it..... Now.... i can only forsee this thread turning into a complete mess..... I sugest a mod or admin keep an eye on it...

Really you should get out more... You have never seen a popup before then? Or have u never visited the site because I only see one?. I suggest you get a popup blocker or use a web browser mozilla if your have such a problem with it. I'm useing IE6

As for spyware I think it's called advertising tracking. If you’re referring to tracking cookies from Advertising banners. Then be carefull not to surf any website that has any AD banners (99.999% or them have banners) because websites cost money to run. I regularly check my pc and updated ad-aware and spybot shows nothing but cookies. Heck you get those on DH you can’t expect free websites to not have advertisers.

"What a joke! I wouldn't trust that article when making my decision on which drivers to use."

I'd like to politely like to ask why is that?
Is there a reason other then that mabe you use or prefur DNA’s?

I’m not here to bash I’m here to discuss.

My only comment i can make is Video Card Variety/Hardware variety

Some drivers just plain don't agree with some systems.. doesn't matter what the deal is.....

You put a pile of work into that article.. i'm amazed... the ammount of time to capture.... and save each image.. not to mention tag each witha bit of info to go by....

2-3 days for each driver... .that's a over a week of plain outright testing..... then however long just to do the writeup and put things together.... amazed...

Congrats on the most excellent job done.....

Don't listen to those guys, we appreciate feedback. We most certainly do not want to have ActiveX and Spyware on the site, if you are getting that, it is from the ad company and without our knowledge. We have been assured that there are no ActiveX or Spyware scripts in the ads we show, and the popup should only ever show once per session.

If you continue to have problems, make sure to post about them, we want to help.

(As for your feedback on the article, it's always good to know other peoples opinions to make things better, thanks).

Thank you, but some credit should go to those involved in helping in the editing the article. It took what seems to be forever to do these tests. The hardest part was when it was all over hand you have this huge pile of carefully sorted notes, images and benchmarks. Not to mention saved data and folders. The organization was easy. The putting it together into a proper article seems to take a lot longer. But, not when you look back the hours and days of testing. It was nice to see it all finished.

no doubt.... a major effort went into making the article shine...

Good ol-editors.... i know about thinking of fixing all the mistakes... only to hand it to someone and find the entire thing covered in red....

Neon,

I want to commend you on all the effort you put into that article.

As for the original poster, I'm using the IE 6 Beta 2055 version of the browser and have previously reported getting Active X error messages here on DH. After going to Windows Update and updating things with the latest files, I rarely see any Active X messages now.

HOWEVER, they're not completely gone. (I wish they were!) What DOES seem to trigger them is trying to do too many things.....or moving too quickly....between sites. But, they have become much more uncommon now.

THEN, as to your original complaint about the article: It would be a much better complaint --- and helpful to the author --- if you listed what you felt was wrong about the article. It's one thing to say you don't like it and don't agree with it, but what was it you didn't like or didn't agree with?

Have you actually gone through all the drivers testing them in the same manner as the author of the article?

Were your test results different? How so?

Why would your decision for using drivers not be affected by what you read?

Answering these questions would go very far in making your post much more credible and acceptable.

AND, last but not least, Welcome to DH!

firstly welcome to Driverheaven, nice to see some new faces, secondly there are NO activex popups on this site i have ran through the ad code with the ad company last night, and this is propably due to the fact you are running an unfinished beta IE browser which has yet to have certain bugs removed. If in fact you are getting activex messages on certain pages and you arent using a beta browser then by all means let me know the urls in which you received those messages and I will be sure to investigate the matter further. Unless of course you saw these messages on omegacorner - you would need to contact omegadrive regarding that, as although his site is hosted on this server, I have no control over the ads he runs. To further clarify we have 1 popunder front page www.hardwareheaven.com which works on a cookie system and several standardised ads across the site. As a final note I would mention to ensure you havent got any left over spyware from other sites in your system and to check your firewall settings as it has also been reported certain firewalls interfere with our anti leeching referrer scripts.

Regarding the driver article, you are entitled to your opinions and you are entitled to debate them, but the feedback forum is not for discussion on that subject, there is a thread in the news forum, also coming from the front page which will make the process of commentary and feedback all the more centralised and easier to share your views. This article was not an offical article from myself or a staff member, so therefore it really cant be deemed as biased in the official sense - certainly Neon has made his views quite explicit and is entitled to do so, just like everyone else - but I would like to say he spent quite a substantial amount of time on this article, so a little initial respect would be nice. Debate the problems you are having with it and who knows you may have some points to be made. As its stands your comments have been extremely vague and somewhat non directional.

I apologise in advance for the somewhat rude welcome you received but you have to understand that quite a few faked, proxied accounts have appeared recently when we exposed certain aspects of DNAs modding, conduct and ethics normally from members with 1, 2 or 3 posts, so you will now perhaps have a better understanding of this, especially considering the exact same author of the aforementioned drivers has double digit accounts himself here with the intention to cause issue - also bearig in mind this new found knowledge your first post to the site was vague and lets be honest quite hostile.

There is no further purpose to this thread, there are no activeX popups on this site as ive explained, and there already is a thread regarding feedback for Mikes driver thread, so if you have further discussion to be had on that, please head to the relevant forum.

I am always available via email zardon@driverheaven.net and once again welcome to the forum.
