DH server too busy?

Who's Online includes 72 (Visible and Invisible) members and 228 guests on the boards. | Most users ever online was 682 on Aug 30, 2002 at 07:29 PM.

Just wierd, I got the "server too busy" message for about 1 minute, then back to normal. Just wondering if DH is getting attacked again or something.

if this happened at 10am GMT, its the server performing backup scripts, so it will be slow for a 15-20 min period.

I think ill put this on a macro

Zardon.. is there any time that it seems to be completely... utterly dead? or would it be possibly be wise to put up "if the server is running some backup scripts" to automatically take them to a "We are currently preforming maintence and should be up and running within "time period"....... or would that be just to much a hassle...As alot of people see Server Busy rather in a bad way sometimes...

I was just thinking, I have seen a few websites display a running tally of the total they have collected in donations- It seems like if people know how much is in the pot, and they see it getting bigger when they donate, it will give then more of an incentive to donate. Would that be something DH would do if it would help with donations?

I was thinking the total wouldn't have to be displayed outright, but a link could be put up if people wanted to check the total- Just an idea to help get donations going. Would it work?

I've always thought even if every active member donated 5 dollars a year, that would probably be enough for whatever DH needs. 5 bucks in nothing to allot of people, for some it's eating that day or not. It just seems like if people could see the results of their donations it would help-

Example, I have no idea what is needed, what was given, what the goal is, or anything. Yeah, even a percentage of the "goal" would be something. I wish I could donate more, but everyone probably does- I just think the trick is to get the people who can donate and want to donate to actually do it.
