Server busy

Just wondering if it is really busy now - pic taken at about 6:20PM EST (10 minutes before this post) or if it is a problem on my end, my ISP has been acting funny lately.

the site is busy lately, you will probably get these the odd time, just give it 10 seconds then refresh.

i'll also say from my side.. i'm getting these occasionally.... i've also noticed it's busy.. that and the fact that a few reviews and whatnot being posted.. it's to be expected.... All we can do is ride it out...

Part of the slowdown I was seeing was because my ISP is messed up today also though. Actually, my cable modem just lost "sync" a few minutes ago and I had to turn off my PC and recycle my modem. My speed isn't really that bad altogether, but it's choppy as hell. Hopefully they are working on it- I wasn't only getting that busy message, but was experiencing very slow load times too- It's getting better now that I rebooted my modem.

I have gotten that message a share of times, but just a refresh and its over.... some loading problems but with such a huge site i expect it... thanks for offering the site... I can ride the server busy out

A lot of guests - can we copy what CDFREAKS do (or at least did, don't know if they still do).

Guest access blocked if the server is getting busy - with a message to say why ... it's also a good, but sneaky, way to convert "eternal guests" into members.

100 Members + 626 Guests, and performance is piss-poor

Would have to agree with Matth - it is the members that make the site what it is - after the admins and mods of course.

The site members should take priority I would have thought.

As far as the 'server busy' page showing up, I rarely get this since using the SP2 Beta 2055. What I DO get is the 'Active X' warning popup over a white 'cannot display' page. This is likely due to the beta and something that MS needs to fix.

Yeah, giving active members bandwdth first is something I've thought about for a long time, I just didn't think it was possible, but if it is, it seems like a good thing to do. The people who actually post should get the bandwidth first....

we covered the Sp2 beta before, it is a fault of the beta. as for this thread, yes I know its giving server too busy messages sometimes. the site is getting masses of traffic lately and it does this to ensure it doesnt totally die - think of the server as a cute lady saying "hang on, ill get around to you in a minute", treat her well and wait 10-20 seconds then refresh, dont keep hammering the refresh
