guys when im voting on the mainpage poll, im getting an ad for some dsl access... why is this? never happened before.

Ya got me there.

Personally, I'd say that it's a combination of our ad code, cookies and how your browser handles cookies. You could try upping or lowering the security settings for cookies in IE.
