well I didnt think anyone was using both a hardware and a software firewall, anyone who has a hardware firewall correctly configured wouldnt need a software firewall, I think there is this common myth circulating, if you put 10 firewalls on your system it will be able to withstand a nuclear bomb. All you need is one.

but in the interests of keeping everyone happy (well thats impossible but we try), ill add the option !

I like to use Zone Alarm to limit which apps can access the net.
I also need to secure my computer from an internal threat, we have a 13 year old wannabee hacker in the house.

lol.... zardon.... although alot of routers have the firewall.... it's only inbound..... alot of people run the combo due to the outbound as well... and simply filtering the inbound even more.... the idea is good... by for myself.. i have nothing the critical to protect... and i have no need to use up a few resources on something that i haven't a worry for....

if your hardware firewall cant stop outgoing traffic then you are better just turning it off and using software.
