We are aware of the issues lately, and I do apologise for the inconveniences caused by this, but we are working on cleaning up certain parts of code and other issues are being looked into, hopefully normal service will be resumed as soon as possible.
Please also be aware, we can get 30,000 hits in an hour on this board, and sometimes close to a million hits a day, so keeping things going smoothly isnt always easy ![]() You may also have noticed that the ads occasionally arent showing either, this is actually not our fault but a problem on the ad server. Hopefully that will also clear up. thanks guys. |

For the period beginning 1-Sep-2002 12:01 AM to 12:01 AM 3-Sep-2002:
Total Hits 1248743 Total Files 714427 Total Pages 91644 Yes, there's a lot of traffic. We're working on solving the uptime issues as well as looking into options to deliver the content to you all more quickly and more reliably. Remember, though, that this is a labor of love - this is all volunteer work around here. Wanna help out? Donate a buck or two - helps us keep this site going. |

Could someone please explain to me the difference between "files", "pages", and "hits"? What do those words and numbers mean? (Yes, I'm hopelessly clueless.)

"Hits" refers to the total number of requests made of a webserver.
"Pages" refers to the actual page urls, usually expressed as html, php, etc. "files" refers to the number of binary files downloaded. |
