Well I have done it, just not in the past few days... Maybe I'll do it again sometime soon.

//// Back on track /////

Update- The front page was really bad a few seconds ago- hung for quite a few seconds after the page looked like it was loaded.

I'm not complaining about it, just describing the problem.. - It does seem worse in FireFox, I'm using the latest version for testing, I'm in IE6 right now.

Then I loaded the front page up again and it only hung for like a half a second.. -hardly noticeable.
It kind of comes and goes I guess.

I get that script error screen all the time now.

I am switching my homepage to something other than DH.. It actually freezes the browser, I've never seen an ad do that before.. I've seen it slow down the loading time, but not actually take over your browser so you can't do anything until it decides to let go. In Firefox I see that "vibrantmedia...." in the status bar, and the activity almost never stops..

Even in the page I'm on right now- writing this, in FireFox, the activity monitor is spinning like crazy, but the status bar says "done".. The globe will spin all day long here- but not on other websites. Oh well

repeats for the zillionith time = waiting on a response from intellitxt/vibrantmedia.........

id like to also say, I dont see this problem as bad as some in this thread and some user on the forum who was having problems in firefox emailed me yesterday to saw the slow loading script was gone.

I get a stall of 1-2 seconds tops in IE 50% of the time, mozilla much the same.

anyway its being looked into guys, you dont need to keep posting there are problems, I know.

ok try the front page now, ive removed the intellitxt script, I think ive got it all. until they decide to reply it will remain off, obviously something wrong with their servers.

Works perfectly now. No lag at all, no IE or FF "freezing".

I loaded the page 10 times in IE and FF to test it- always the same, no problem.. Plus it is very fast now.

Just a small observation I thought I should put here for you guys who run DH to check out..

I noticed on this page: http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/vid...o-extreme.html
(a page at X-bit referred to in a news story on front page of DH) that it has IntelliTXT enabled. I'm sure there are thousands on the internet, that is just an example..

The thing I noticed about it, was that I also notice a very brief pause when trying to scroll while the page is loading, and it seems to happen when the IntelliTXT loads up... I'm not sure if they use the same servers, or if its the same ad company or what, but the pause or "freezing" of the page is just like the one that was happening on DH, but it is so quick, you don't really notice it unless you are looking for it in IE6.

I also notice that when I load the page with FireFox, the page "hang" is worse, and it is longer- about 1 full second or more every time the page loads. I also can see the "vibrant media" or whatever website it is in the status bar during this period of time the site is "hanging".... Also the amount of text on the page is very small compared to what is on the front page of DH, so maybe the more text vibrant media has to look through directly correlates into the length of freezing or hanging the page gets..

I think this proves that the problem is not with DH, but lies with how IntelliTXT is implemented or used when a page loads. I bet if I looked around some more I could find more pages that exhibit this problem, but haven't tried yet. It seems IntelliTXT (or Vibrant Media) is shooting themselves in the foot here.

I started doing a little research (after I started writing this post) just to see what I could find out about this problem..

Here- http://vibrantmedia.com/site/web_01a5.html#11 there are some FAQs about IntelliTXT, the last question reads:

"11. Will loading IntelliTXT tags on my pages increase the load time of my web page?"

the answer:

"The addition of the tags does increase the page load time because extra data is needed for the page. However, this load takes place in the background so the page renders and the user can interact with the page. Once the data has loaded the page is then modified. So the extra load time is transparent."

I think that statement is a big fat lie. When you have the kind of problems described in this thread, and then when you disable IntelliTXT the problem completely vanishes, there is a huge problem with the way IntelliTXT is doing it's job.

All you have to do is scroll up and down a little with your mouse wheel while the page is loading to see the proof. Then disable IntelliTXT and do the same to see the difference.

http://vibrantmedia.com/site/company_04a.html <--- I have unlimited long distance telephone service in the US. If I call won't tell them who I am calling on behalf of, but I might call and tell them what I think about question #11 and the answer to it.

On the other hand I could be very polite and tell them about the problem on DH and any other website I can find that has the same "hanging" problem. Without in depth knowledge of how it works I probably wouldn't be the best person to do that though. Although I could simply report the problem to them directly.

I dont mean to sound harsh man but I did say this much earlier in the thread, quite a few times. its intellitxt, always has been.

AS for contacting them, feel free on your own behalf as a reader of many sites that use it. ive had no luck getting in touch with them lately, even my ad company cant get hold of them and they work in conjunction. I give up, its staying off for the meantime.

I see the intelliTXT is back--

It is disabled, but it is still freezing my browser. I noticed it when I clicked to open the homepage, then went into my favorites- all of the sudden it froze my entire browser for about 3 seconds and I couldn't do anything in it, or click on anything, and the favorites menu was stuck open. I tested it in FireFox to find that it hijacks my browser for about 5 seconds (or until I count to 5).. Very annoying.

I had the problem for about 2 weeks tops, and now that you guys adressed the issue, the front page has no more script errors and/or slowdows. Thanks Zardon for listening to your members.

And yex, I'm using Firefox.

Intellitxt is back because we are running tests. It might be very annoying but we have to fix the issue so you will to bear with us while we attempt to work it out. Its hard to fix and test it, if we dont have it running.

OIC, cool.

Edit, very interesting- I see the IntelliTXT switch when I load the front page w/ IE6, but it is not there when I load the page with FireFox.. Have not seen that before..
