DH main page unresponsive
Just started noticing it today. I'm not sure if it's an ad or what, but many times I'll go to the main page and it will just hang. It will be loaded and everything, but when passing the cursor over links or trying to move the page by scrolling, nothing happens at all for a few seconds..
It just freezes, and won't move until it's good and ready.. I rebooted, etc... I even installed FireFox which I'm on right now, and the same exact thing happened. It doesn't do it all the time, so I can't pinpoint what the problem is, but it doesn't happen on other sites that I can see. I just started noticing it a few minutes ago..

its fine here, anyone else having the same problem? might have also been a temporary ad loading issue......
also if you are still on the 2 year old OS there isnt really much we can do

I got it to do it about 10 more times since I posted, it seems to be that ad 5 down from the top- that little one.. by itself in the middle..
It was doing it when it was an Antec ad-- now it has changed and I don't think it's doing it anymore. My OS is tweaked to perfection.. Only since August 2003!

The front page does seem slow to load in general today, but I guess it could just be traffic on both ends (servers/ nodes I mean) |

yeah their server is probably overloaded, they supply intellitxt ads to alot of big sites...... it might pass, have a little patience
we can look tomorrow. alot of these problems are normally ad issues which pass in a few hours or a day or 2.

hmm, really acting uptoday... it's not just the front page either.... And tested it out on another machine with SP1 XP with defaults..... The forums are actually sometimes unresponcive for lengthy periods of times... refreshing doesn't do anything.... (obvious).... it took 5 minutes to load...... and then everything was marked read for me.... (maybe the system was rebooted? )

I can confirm it still happens now, just an update--
And by looking at the status bar, it happens right after all the ads are done loading, then the page freezes, actually it fezzes the entire browser- All functions-- it just doesn't work at all for a couple seconds, or maybe just one second sometimes.. Then it pops back to normal.... It's seems like an ad to me, but one of the last ones that load, or right after the last one loads.. I tested in Firefox and IE6 - it seems to happen more in FireFox.. |

Dont worry guys, like Zardon said, he's emailed the ad company already and is already on the case. Be assured it will get sorted.

well it shouldnt be affecting the forum and it cant be as intellitxt isnt on the forum. ive heard of routing issues lately coming from texas, so give this a few days to pass. the ad company are also looking into the ad problems front page, so please have a little patience with this. sorry for any slowdowns guys but rest assured the DH server is hardly even ticking over, 1% CPU usage on the dual xeons as I write this.

Well Firefox seems to be the worst offender from here. Mozilla 1.7 I don't get the script error but it does slow on the intelitext. IE I don't have the issue at all however hard that is for me to admidt

![]() I myself mentioned that if there are complaints and they happen to be running SP2 RC's or something.... it isn't related to them having it... as it's apparent with officially released versions of IE As for the routing issues.... i checked my routing to driverheaven last before i posted and it showed clear.... but then again... there might be spikes here and there Nice to know the brute of a server is laying around in the hammeck occasionally burping

An update--
I haven't been on much lately because I haven't been home all week, but on the occasion that I do log on, the problem seems worse than ever. After the front page loads- after it says "done" in the status bar, the entire browser window is frozen until whatever is causing the problem decides to let go.. Using IE6 here too- but it happened even worse on FireFox when I was home, and now I'm on a totally different broadband ISP and a different PC.. It doesn't just hang the page, it takes over my browser and won't let me control anything at all- very strange. Sometimes it lasts for 1 or 2 seconds, sometimes it lasts for up to 5 or 6 seconds-

look guys I know the problem is there ive seen it myself, ive emailed intellitxt about the issues here, so hopefully ill hear back soon, its the weekend.
if I dont hear back mid week ill kill intellitxt on the front page. in the meantime if you see the little "turn intellitxt off" panel, try that. it has worked for me. |

vibrantmedia IS intellitxt. this has to be the issue, all the ads on the front page are on the forum. the only two that arent are two JPGs which are unlikely to cause issues as they are hosted on the same server as DH.
The only other thing which could be the issue are the towers but I cant see how they would be causing any problems as they have nothing to do with vibrantmedia and this is were everyone says the page is stalling. With intellitxt off, im not getting any slow downs. |

I also was receiving the script error on the main page in Firefox. After adding vibrantmedia.com to Adblock, the error no longer appears.

Sometimes the only way I see the "pause" is when I scroll with the wheel while the page is loading, then I see it is unresponsive for 1 or 2 seconds (after the page loads)
It seems much better with inellitxt disabled, but it's still there.. If you aren't looking for it, you can't see it most of the time. Although sometimes there is a longer pause. Maybe it's getting a little better now? |

Your sig was worse on that PC too (slower CPU)- It is an 1800xp Palamino @ 1.5ghz, 768mb PC2100 [512x1 + 256x1], GA-7dx+, XP home PC with 384/3000 cable ISP w/ Sygate personal firewall pro 5.5 updated/defragged and clean. I think there is enough people seeing it to know that it isn't just a problem with my PC. I think that goes for the CPU hungry gif too.

I just opened it in it's own window with FireFox and it used 4% max.. (I'm talking about the original one still) Maybe I should UNinstall and reinstall IE6 and see what happens..
