Most users ever online was 682 on 08-30-2002 at 8:29 PM.
Hmmm, wasn't there 800+ - or did my brain fail on me again?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't DH.net log that and keeps the MAX > other?!

That's why it made me wonder... I've seen 800+, and now the number dropped down to 6xx..

no there was never that many online at the one time, you probably saw over 1000 online at the one time when we were altering code and it was reading people who where online over the last 4 or 5 hours. the number was reset to the correct number which reads on a 5 minute period.

hope this explains.

That explains one thing, but it still doesn't explain the 200 users drop-down..? 8xx-6xx... It's not a dig deal, I'm (we're) just curious...

the number that is currently on the board was the maximum number on the site at the one time, there never was 800+ online at once, and if you saw that figure it was probably due to maintenance at some stage.

There was also a bug in Deluxe Portal 1.1.6 which caused the number to reset from time to time.

Just in 1.1.6? Is it fixed in newer version?

well actually thats not technically true, this version of portal thats currently running on DH is heavily modded from the original 1.1.6. --- Driverheaven gets a hell of a lot of traffic and its been a real test of Andrews software. There have been times when we needed to make adjustments to cope with the half a million+ hits a day this site receives.

Alot of the bug fixes have already been done by Shaith on Driverheaven (along with alot of behind the scenes alterations to fix some problems), and cyborg customised the coding on alot of the forum. So really the 1.1.6 version we are running on DH is improved on the original release.

I think this thread has gone on enough and the original question was answered so if you all dont mind ill close it

(im sure if the server administrator Shaith wishes to add anything he will).

Yes, the code that drives DP 1.1.6 has been heavily modified to run here on DH, and bugs like the one mentioned in this thread have been fixed. While some sections of the code are close to original, there are others that have been radically modified and hardly resemble the original code. To be more accurate, it should probably read something like:

DH's portal software is based on Deluxe Portal version 1.1.6 by Andrew Harper.
