Seriously, we really don't use 'em much. We just use them to post site information/policy debates/such-n-like where we can all talk about issues of the site that we don't really want to talk about on the general boards. (Icky finance stuff, upcoming site promotions, how to deal with the flack from the manufacturers who have their lawyers send us letters, and stuff like that.)

Most of the mods conversations happen on the main boards, we just use the private forums for stuff we don't feel is appropo to go public quite yet but we need the mods to know about. (It's a VERY useful thing considering our mods are pretty much evenly distributed across the face of the globe, we're very international here and I think that's a GREAT thing.

)

So a couple of the forums we keep private just to communicate amongst the mods & administrators. I don't know of ANY forum that doesn't have them, but I can honestly tell you that DH's private forums are the least used of any site I mod at. All the mods/admins try and keep most of our conversations out on the general boards and we try to avoid just using the private forums to chat, we have much more fun chatting in public where anyone can kick in their .02.

Hope that satisfies your curiousity, 'cause it's about all I can give you. Sorry to be exclusionary in this regards, but we kind of have to ta keep the site running as well as it does.

well, let's put it this way. at nvnews, when i resigned my moderator position, i lost access to nvnews' mod forum (there is only 1 there). since then, i have only hacked it once, and found nothing of interest. stuff like "this member is causing a problem, please set him straight" kinda stuff.
