Something not right with the code tags?

The code tags do not seem to correctly preserve spacing. I frequently find myself typing in code using the CODE tags, only to find the spacing all messed up when I submit the message. Additionally, if I first preview the message, the spacing is not correct in the preview window, and it also has been changed in the editor window (different from both the original spacing, and from what it looks like in the preview window), forcing me to completley redo the spacing before submitting the message (which ends up with the spacing messed up anyway). Am I doing something wrong? I have used CODE tags on many other message boards without problems (and I am using spaces and not tabs). (as a matter of fact if you look at the example shown for the CODE tags under the VB Code list, you will see that the example input spacing does not appear to match the example output spacing).

i.e. Here is a test, first using dashes to show intended spacing and then using actual spaces and the CODE tags.

That is possible. I am using Firefox, and now that I think about it, I never tried using the code tags on other message boards using Firefox, so maybe it is an issue with this browser.

Firefox strikes again, try IE or Opera and let us know how that works out.

Ok, since I currently have 4 web browsers installed, I will make some test posts and see how it works in each browser.

Hmm, Opera seems to be the only one that maintains the exact spacing.
